She’s from Denmark. Her brother Freddie plays in the NHL, goalie for Toronto last I saw.

Another interesting unknown is forward Kuoppala from Finland. She looks like a goal scorer and has played in international tournaments.

Yes I noticed that and HOPE YOUR right....more scoring the better. The Finns have a strong work ethic in there game.

Another interesting thing I see is Trimper twins listed as being from Florida. They spent their school years in Bangor and school years recently at Taft in Conn. Here is an article from a while back in case anyone is unfamiliar... https://bangordailynews.com/2018/06/08/sports/umaine-sports/twins-who-grew-up-in-bangor-commit-to-play-ice-hockey-at-university-of-maine/

Seems like the Maine staff has put a lot of focus on recruiting European players. That might end being a very smart move. Time will tell.

Re: Maine Hockey

You are a beacon of hope.

Talk to me when there is something uplifting.
OK...just telling you like it is...and that in this day and age can always be spun or twisted but I think you know what I mean....(???):D...common sense is no longer the rule, white and black does not make the picture rosy...and yes and no is considered too harsh.

Re: Maine Hockey

Another hockey fan of the Maine Black Bears hockey teams. I have followed the forum for a few years, so I thought I would start adding my two cents to the fun! If I can figure out how to post correctly.

Re: Maine Hockey

My predictions is the Maine women's team will finish in the top 3 this year. They will be solid offensively and in goal. Only question will be the defense, with the loss of Matteau and Kucera. I see them putting up a lot of points this year. The only other question is if they can stay out of the box. I saw a lot of retaliation penalties last year that really hurt them.

Re: Maine Hockey

Came away impressed with newcomers #11 Amelie Anderson and #26 Ida Kuoppala and as usual Tereza Vanisova was outstanding on the ice, she see's everything and skates/passes and is a threat every time she is on the ice, a special one of kind player. Also thought Leech/Colton and Tereshkiva played very well tonight.

Welcome aboard....the more that follow the women's game the better...imo thou...Maine is still not a top 4 team in Hockey East, ask me later like 12 games from now and I may change my mind on that...but for now they will need to beat the top 4 teams in Hockey East to get to that plateau.

After watching the game it seems like Andersen, Kuapolla, and Coffman are going to be great contributors. Kuapolla has some sticks skills to get through traffic, which is rare from what I’ve seen in the women’s game. Andersen looks to have that poise out at point and nifty passing. Coffman looks to have a nose for driving the net and passing well on the odd man rushes.

Looks like a well rounded squad. Of course Vanisova is mvp and she looked outstanding. Can’t wait to see what this team can do against other teams in hockey east.

Re: Maine Hockey

Maine beat Sacred Heart 4-0 today, Miljone and Vanisova with 2 goals each. Play again tomorrow afternoon at 1pm

Re: Maine Hockey

Maine is ahead, 4-0, about midway through period 2 of game 2. Should note that Sacred Heart is a d-II/III women's hockey program.
