Re: Maine Hockey: Summer 2015 on the Stillwater

The projected lineup for the Bruins Stars game has Shore scratched on the day he was announced the AHL's Player of the month for October. That's a bummer...

Re: Maine Hockey: Summer 2015 on the Stillwater

According to NESN Shore is projected to play. I was reading a lineup projection put out by Dallas around 5, so we shall see!

Re: Maine Hockey: Summer 2015 on the Stillwater

Well, you kinda made my point for me, Drew...

The Red recruits (aside from Mac) have done nothing over six games. Very small sample, but I don't envision any of them being anywhere near outstanding at any juncture. You can usually see that pretty early in a guy's college career, and I ain't seeing any such thing right now.

IMO, poor recruiting was Timmy's downfall, but Red's has been even worse so far.

Here's hoping that your optimism for next year"s class is well-founded. Still love my Bears, but am getting discouraged,

BC 7 UMass 0 ,last nights score...BC netted 6 goals in the 2nd period. Maine @ BC for 2 game series this weekend(Friday-Sunday).

Recruiting is BIG...and you can't miss in back to back years and 4 out 5 years...never good for teams trying to make head-way.

This thread should be officially declared dead. RIP
Hard to be positive and all too easy to be negative....long season to date....can't fault the play of #35 McGovern...not much fun being a Maine Hockey fan these days.

Time to call a spade a spade. The program has reached a low ebb, not seen since the '80's. The RED era is a miserable failure, and there s no need to babble about next year. His teams have only gotten worse since yr one. I don't blame Red necessarily or current players. Its always bout the money, and elite players no longer want to come here, period.

You are correct, it's about the money. But why haven't Swavely, Shurhamer, Riley and Merchant developed? Swavely, in particular, was a much better player two years ago.

Re: Maine Hockey: Summer 2015 on the Stillwater

As long as Maine insists on sponsoring FCS football.......all other sports will suffer.

Re: Maine Hockey: Summer 2015 on the Stillwater

Not sure who will score for you but you guys actually played pretty well tonight

Re: Maine Hockey: Summer 2015 on the Stillwater

Gonna be honest Maine played quite well tonight. Couldn't really get a bounce they needed but they played a solid game and seemed to have a good gameplan that gave BC trouble. Two posts hit behind Demko. No game breakers there,

I remember UML and Merrimack coming to Alfond Arena in the late '90's and early 2000's and saying the same thing about them. But they rarely ever won. Thanks for trying to make us feel good.;)

Was at Conte tonight. Maine played a very good game 80% of the time. PP had some focus and pretty good puck control but was 0-6. The game was way closer than the score. Maine killed itself with penalties during its own PP. Three times IIRC. Sat right behind the bench, right between the coaches. Red has their attention. This team was engaged tonight. McGovern was very good. No Schurhammer, no Robbins. It was clear sitting up close tonight- they put in the effort, a full day's work, but we do not have a difference maker, a guy who can control the game when needed. Vesey is a really good hockey player, I love watching him, but not a difference maker, at least not tonight. BC is big and fast and have a top 3 goalie in D1. Their talent level is clearly a cut above Maine. We stayed with them but that's simply not good enough.

Part of what makes a player great lies in their ability to improve every yr, not just the talent they come to a program with. Agree with you, these guys have done little of that.

Talked with a bc season ticket holder. He said maine had a great forecheck, pinned bc in at times. Maine played hard all game just no offense.

These guys would be ideal players on very good teams...3rd/4th liners and depth players, but they have been thrown into the lineup expecting 1st & 2nd line numbers to go along with spelling injured players or lightning a fire on those that need it...they could be assets on good teams but you can't expect them to be the elite type/game changers on a very bad team..year in and year out.
