At least we don't have to hear how Montgomery got Denver to the Frozen 4 blah blah blah.........

He hasn't done well against HE teams. BC thumped them last year in the regional semi-final 6-2. Perhaps next year he takes the next step. He lost his recruiter to Providence, so who knows.

Yeah I understand but watching the games was a lot of fun. The PC game was unreal and BU is something special. Going to take quite a team to beat BU in the Garden

They were great games all over. Not sure how I feel about NCAA kind of giftwrapping PC those home games but they still had to win 'em. Can't imagine PC's monetary situation is that much better than Orono's, Leaman could be doing this here

He could but he ain't here. Red is still the guy. Not sure if he is the man or not? Next year will tell alot. Leaman took a team that finished 9 or 10th before he got there into the ncaas in a couple of years, 4th year he is in frozen 4. Difference is he had a goalie.

Ditto. It's all about rebound control. Even the goal that ended our season followed a shot from a bad angle that was in and out of the goalies glove........ So many goals scored on rebounds, part of the blame on the D for not picking the guy up, but mostly on the keeper for not smothering the rebound.

I agree. Stories like PCs just make me cringe with all the circular logic about why Maine cant win, why the new regime needs X years, money, travel blah blah blah. If they can do it Maine can it just needs the right guy with the right plan at the top. We'll see if that's Red.

You don't think that Fargo wasn't any help to North Dakota?

Re: Maine Hockey 2014-15 Volume 2: Red's Revenge

Maine needs to have at least a .500 season then a few winning seasons before they even think about Frozen 4's.

All you need is an Eichel or a Kariya ;)

Far as Red goes, we will see soon enuf how his bigger stronger Maine teams hold out in HE. We will need some concrete signs that Red has what it takes this season, no doubt. Talking about solid improvement in key aspects of the game.... net front domination at both ends, solid and consistent goaltending, and at least a hint of goal scoring ability, either by cycling and net front dominance or more creativity with the puck .. I want to see a better conditioned team that can really skate and physically wear down opponents .

With 22 Hockey East games...one each against Yale/Princeton..two @ Union...add two for the Ice Breaker Classic in Portland. That leaves 8 for OC games...with that said has anyone heard what the field of Teams will be for the Ice Breaker Classic?

Add 2 games against Quinnipiac for next seasons OOC schedule, one in Hamden and one in Orono. Quinnipiac also has BU on their schedule for the first time in each of the next two years. It wasn't long ago when you could've said "why would Maine want to play Quinnipiac"? Now one could say "why would Quinnipiac want to play Maine"? YIKES!!!!!

Yeah agree about the goalie, but it's coaching too. Systems, utilizing what you have for talent. Prov wasn't in any better position talent wise than Maine when Leaman took over. And lookie here they are in the Frz 4. I'm really having my doubts about Red. I think he maybe too old school for the current environment. I'll give him 1 more year. Then my optimism and patients will have run it's course.

Used to happen all the time, but even more so.... As in Michigan hosting at Yost and Minny hosting at Mariucci, etc. The situation is actually better now.

My optimism is long-dead, considering Red's results and his recruiting...

I was touting Jimmy or Bob a couple of years back, but was willing to settle for Red and his impressive resume. Now, I see no progress whatsoever and in hindsight wish that Maine had opted for a younger coach who had Maine ties and perhaps had a better touch with 18-22 YO's.

I hate to admit this, but I've thrown-in the towel. What Tim started, Red will finish. I'll still follow the Bears, but I'll be stunned (and delighted) if they make any noise in the foreseeable future, yet I just don't see any reason to expect that. None at all.

Yes, but North Dakota EARNED that by being a #1 seed and a host. Providence was not a host and backed into the tournament as the last team in on the last day by .0002 points. They were then handed 2 virtual home games for "attendance".

Yeah, I wondered why he didn't sit in a 1,2,2 and plug up neutral zone. I'm not sure Red will get it done. The team just dropped off the earth near the end of his first season and I've heard different rumors why. But he needs a chance to get his guys in, we will see next season if they make a difference or not.
