Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 - Red White Bleeding Blue...

PC has a good but not great team, none the less they were better then Maine this season...they earned there wins vs Maine. There in the top 4 in Hockey East and are in the Top 10-12 in the Nat. picture.

I like PC more than most of you guys... I can see them riding Gilles deep into the NCAAs in my bracket.

Your right with Gillies,he could carry PC threw a bracket into the F4,and that goes for these two other teams where there netminders could do the same: Union & UMass-Lowell.

One of the pairwise predicators picks BC playing Denver in the first round of the playoffs. Do you support the league or the team coached by a former player?:D

As a Maine fan you have to feel pretty lousy when Vermont makes the NCAA's and the bears dont.

Vermont did beat the bears 3 out of 4 games and finished with 4 more wins then the bears... you don't need to feel that lousy.

No one gets by Lowell in that bracket
UML has the Team that is built to win with 4 lines/and a top notch goaltender who's hot at the right time to go along with their Coach Norm Bazin/big time intense...also watch for Union on the Eastern side...either of these Teams could bring home the Hardware.

It also took UML three games to defeat Vermont in the quarter-final round. What's hard to take is that Maine finished in 6th and Vermont was 8th in the Hockey East regular season standings.

I get what you're saying. I just don't understand making any kind of a fuss over reg season standings. Especially this season. Maine finished one point ahead of UVM. One point over 4 months is basically measurement error. 2 points separated 5 teams (UNH, NU, Maine, UVM, ND).

For me, it might have been hard to take if Maine had done well h2h against UVM, ND, and NU. But they didn't.

Honestly, missing the NCAAs gets a little bit easier to take every year. Hopefully Red can halt that momentum soon. :-/

My thoughts exactly; those three goalies are the best I've seen this year, and I wouldn't be at all surprised to see any one of those guys carry his team into the FF.

I'm running my usual college hockey pool at work this week, and I hope to exceed last year's 38 betters this year. (People are willing to wager on any obscure sport, when you only ask them for a $2.00 ante, and some of them actually watch the games as a result of having -literally- a couple of bucks riding on them.)

FWIW, my dark-horse this year is Colgate, but if I had to bet my life on it, I'd go with Union.... (The "EZAC" is no more.)

BC is more skilled than Union, but not by a whole lot, and the latter has better 'tending and D... And Minnesota has always found a way to blow it.

My provisional pick would be UML, which is on quite a roll.

PC doesn't show up just like Boston, Gillies is thinking of his NHL career. Lowell comes out of its region. ND loses, Vermont loses

I'm going with a St Cloud, Wisco, Union, UML FF. Union as nat champ.

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 - Red White Bleeding Blue...

is anyone else surprised that none of Maine's seniors have suited up for another team yet?

Is Marty going to be a free agent in the fall?
is Brice going somewhere, or will he be the second Maine captain in recent years not to play at the next level? (I see him being a good D man in the ECHL, I am not sure he has the size for the AHL)
Swavley ? Maybe he could play for the Royals in his hometown?
Sullivan would be a fine goalie in the pros, I think. (Marty had the cat-like reflexes to cover up pucks in a scrum, but Sullivan's positioning and rebound control was better, in my opinion)

I'm pretty sure Brice signed with ECHL team. Marty will get a shot but not sure about the others. Sullivan was a great student and I'm guessing he might pursue opportunities outside of hockey.
