Dam that Rutt fella can be good when he wants to be. Outstanding game by him.... he really set the tone on the opening faceoff when he demolished that Mac player. On to P town . Time for a little payback
. Hope the entire state shows up to support these guys. Ouellettes got his mojo back.
A little more on the fan bus: It will stop in southern Maine to pick up passengers. I'll be discussing locations with John Diamond on Monday. I just need a pickup in Topsham (there's a park&ride right off exit 31) but if people want other pickup locations post it here or contact John Diamond at 581-1086. Also, if there is a game 3, the bus is staying (but tix will have to be purchased).
What's the 411 on the hotel and is everyone guaranteed a room if there's a game 3???
Story of the Season...they go as far as Ouellette will take them.Maine hockey: Gendron rewarded for confidence in Ouellette

I just spoke with John Diamond. The bus is leaving campus at 11AM, stopping at the Bangor Park&Ride and then the Exit 31 (Topsham) Park&Ride before heading to Providence. If people need another pickup site in Southern Maine let him know. We are staying at the Providence Marriott for two nights. If there is a game three on Sunday we will come back immediately after the game. The special rate is $110/night (with tax $246). I checked and the hotel offers a buffet breakfast and has lot of dining options nearby for lunch on Saturday.
They need to win on Friday no matter what the stats say,put the pressure on PC from the get-go.Going inside some numbers:
If Maine is going to pull the upset over Providence this weekend, a win on Friday night is vital. On Friday nights on the road Maine is a presentable 1-4-3 and Martin Ouellette sports a 2.20 GAA and .928 save percentage. On Saturday nights on the road, Maine is 0-6-0 and Ouellette's numbers are a much worse 3.74/.892 (last in Hockey East). Further, Providence is 4-2-1 at home on Friday while Jon Gillies carries a 2.37 and .922 (ninth in Hockey East) while on Saturday he is an unstoppable 5-1-1 1.84 .945 (first in Hockey East).
Another key is the penalty kill. On Friday nights Maine has given up only one goal while short handed (Mike Pereira on 11/2/13) in 25 opportunities. The works out to an unheard of 96%. Providence has had trouble with the power play in Friday home games, scoring just three goals in 34 chances (8.8%). Then there is Saturday. Maine is horrific on the penalty kill on Saturdays. In 26 opportunities, opponents have notched eight goals (30.8%) while Providence is a more respectble seven for 35 (20%). Maine's offense is equally poor on Friday or Saturday, but Providence averages almost a full goal less on Friday than Saturday.
It has to be Friday.
