Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 - Red Light District

Funny how no one seems to provide any details about the incident??? Who submitted it for review? The Merrimack coach? Jerr-wee York?? Jack Parker??? It must have been something else if Lomberg is getting a game suspension for it!!!

Most of the time the opposing coach (Merrimack's Mark Dennehy) would submit it for review if he felt it was something the referees missed, but there are other avenues for this to get to supplemental discipline. I can guarantee you that no one in the league office said "Let's help Northeastern and penalize Maine."

Maine typically brings the largest fan base to Boston so the opposite could be in play for the conspiracy theorists out there.

yes, york submitted the play for review. these things are always submitted by the opposing coach/staff.

I know that they don't care about helping Northeastern........I'm talking about BC.

^^^^ area clown ^^^^

This happened to BC in 2008. Merrimack beetched to league office about a no call on Gerbe. Gerbe suspended for 1 game on an infraction that was never called on the ice. Arguably cost him the Hobey Baker Award that year.

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 - Red Light District

Imagine the “Goon Platoon” submitting a play to the league for review???????

Odds are “Complaining Collins” drove it to the league office.

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 - Red Light District

does anyone know when ""The Hit" occurred? Was it when Marrotta was called for the dive?

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 - Red Light District

The worst officiated game of the season so far just keeps on giving now that Hockey East has decided to suspend Lomberg. It's totally unjustified. Why not a verbal reprimand, why punish him the whole game? Why not start Friday's game with him in the box, because Hockey East's decision to sit him the whole game is just as much of a joke as having him start the game in the box would be. Merrimack was all over Lomberg all night because they were upset that he had both of the goals scored against them on Friday night. It was really obvious that they wouldn't leave him alone. If he gave an elbow to a player that wasn't called on the ice it was probably because he was being harassed so much on the ice by Merrimack all night.

What about the hit on Spencer Abbott by BU behind the play that resulted in his concussion in the Hockey East semi-finals?

It's worth repeating three times to show how stupid Hockey East is in arbitrarily deciding who has to sit a game and who doesn't. No penalty was even called on that hit that happened behind the play that resulted in a concussion to Spencer Abbot, one of the best players in all of college hockey that year, and BU gets away with a far bigger penalty which resulted in a severe injury.

I think this decision on Lomberg is worth some complaints directly to the Hockey East front office.

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 - Red Light District

Did anyone see that in this week's Hockey East Weekly Release that Lomberg was mentioned as one of the Weekly Top Performers?

Will Hockey East now retroactively take that away from him too?

I REALLY hope that Maine can put it all together, blow through the rest of their schedule, and sweep through the playoffs as a big ** to Hockey Boston........errr, I mean Hockey East. I think that there are more than a few people upset that Maine has come back so quickly from TIMMAY induced exile.;)

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 - Red Light District

Interesting that Maine averages the third fewest PIMs per game (with the other two being non "Boston" teams) but some of you seem to embrace this persecution complex. Other schools in the league have had guys suspended for a game after a league review, including BC. It's not limited to Maine.

Also, a good Maine team is good for the league due to the passionate fan base that travels well. I believe someone else mentioned that above.

We're talking about THIS incident.......I don't give a crap whether Maine is most or least penalized team.........when a big decision is made, it more often than not hurts Maine and helps a Boston school.

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 - Red Light District

Of course! All decisions from the Hockey East office are determined by how much it will hurt Maine and help a Boston school.
It didn't always used to be this way, but fan bases change. ;) :D

What ever happened to SanDiego anyway? SanDiego used to use    a lot. He and 91 could be kissin' cousins. :D

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 - Red Light District

ah ok so we're only talking "big decisions" like this one. did you see what happened on the ice? doesn't seem like anybody on here has said they actually saw what happened. again, other schools...including Boston schools have had guys suspended for a game by the league after review. Is there a pattern of this happening with Maine players? Not that I know of. It's happened to BC and I think it happened to a BU player last year. Might have been Noonan.

If somebody saw it and wants to argue it, go right ahead. But stop crying about a conspiracy, etc. It's utter bullcrap.

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 - Red Light District

It's a mystery.
Someone is saying they think it was the interference call he got in 2nd period?
MC definitely kept 2 guys on Lomberg Sat. night so I don't doubt he was frustrated and threw an elbow. The guy is hardly an angel. I don't understand a whole game suspension when it would have been 2 minutes if they had called it

If Merrimack can't compete on the ice without running to Papa Bertagna.......maybe they should just leave the league?
