So really it comes down to, just win :)

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 - Red Light District

My apologies. Was having a bad night and was annoyed. Not my usual tone when I post. It was a stupid post. (Mine, not yours) :(

No biggies...

But if you want to make it up to me I love cheesecake. Cherry cheese cake.

:)

Figured I might as well try, who doesn't like cheesecake.

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 - Red Light District

Looked to me like Portland won the game (2-0) but lost the fight--but that may be because fewer Portland players left their bench to join in.

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 - Red Light District

With four points, we could also finish as low as 5th if (a) UNH beats BU tonight and sweeps Merrimack, and (b) NU gets six points, or five points including a sweep or a win and a tie against us, or PC sweeps its last two weekends, including the series at the Alfond. If we get four points, we can't finish below 5th, since four points would mean either a sweep against NU or at least a tie against PC, which would ensure that they finish below Maine in the final standings.

With two points, we could still finish as high as third, if NU, UNH, and PC lose most of their games. We could also finish as low as 7th if UVM sweeps and the others win most of their games.
Hey, I was told there would be no math when I joined FanForum.

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 - Red Light District

(c) UNH doesn't win all six points against BU (tonight) and ...
Off to Agganis shortly for BU-UNH @ 4. A BU win this aft is great for the Black Bears. A BU win this aft is unlikely.
It's great going to a game where you hope both teams lose.

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 - Red Light District

Maine #17 USCHO, #11(t) Pairwise. The Black Bears are in the conversation.

Not for nothin' but how does Northeastern jump from 12th to 9th having had one game this weekend, a 5-4 squeaker over UMass... The relative and occasional randomness of USCHO poll shows itself here. And don't come back and say How does Maine go from NR to #17 with two 1 goal wins over Merrimack.

No. 9 Providence ties, loses; No. 10 Michigan loses two (to No. 1 Minnesota); No. 11 Cornell loses two.

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 - Red Light District

I don't care where Maine ends up in the USCHO Poll as long as they remain in the Top 12 of the PWR.:)

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 - Red Light District

Red keeps talking about attendance and how important it is to have fans in the seats at games. Has anyone talked to him about the $50 seats? I was thinking about sending him a Twit, but if lots of folks have already mentioned this to him then I may let it go.
Keep telling whomever will listen...never hurts to keep the squeaking wheel in play...and another to tell would be the NEW A.D.

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 - Red Light District

I have no idea on either count. One thing I would say though is that his team absolutely sucks. They're the second worst team in the league so that could have a lot to do with his stats. The other goalie on the team doesn't have any better stats. He was hurt early in the year as well so it could be more of a temporary thing than him not being good enough. Out of the three Morris is the one I'm most concerned about.
Figure that the Goaltending will be up for grabs...everyone gets a shot @#1...but in Morris's case I would be worried if by mid-summer he is not doing normal activity and up and ready for dryland training come September...Goaltending will be the point of interest come next season, but for now its time to ride Ouellette as far as he will take them...

Yeah yeah I took all of that into consideration before posing the question. I just don't think it justifies NU jumping three slots to 9th in the country. Maybe two; not three. Just an opinion.

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 - Red Light District

So why exactly has Ryan Lomberg been suspended for a game again? An "elbowing" infraction in Saturday's game? Was this call even made? Anyone remember this?

There are two parts of the Hockey East rulebook that influenced this decision:

1.) Always bend over backwards to benefit teams located in the city of Boston.

2.) Notre Dame will be catered to at every opportunity.

Rule 1: Northeastern gets to face a Maine team without Lomberg Friday night.

Rule 2: Notre Dame won't have to travel for a quarterfinal if Maine stumbles.

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 - Red Light District

even if it wasn't called, doesn't mean it didn't happen. we know how bad the refs are, they easily could have missed something. just sayin'.

It was an elbow that the referees on the ice missed, but the play was submitted to the league for review.

Funny how no one seems to provide any details about the incident??? Who submitted it for review? The Merrimack coach? Jerr-wee York?? Jack Parker??? It must have been something else if Lomberg is getting a game suspension for it!!!

Even if Notre Dame wins all three of its remaining games and Maine loses all four, Maine still finishes above ND in the HE standings. ND and Maine would both wind up with 20 points and the same number of wins in league play. Both teams would have 1-1 records against BC, but Maine would win the tiebreaker for the 2nd place team if it is either UML or UNH.
