Be prepared for the return of Chrissie to trolling the Maine threads.

Someone wanted to make a statement tonight, and it certainly wasn't Maine. In the long run, this might be just what the team needs, it will impress among them just how much more they need to bring in order to compete with the really good teams.

Stole a point @ UML...and got taken to the Wood Shed by BC...not what we wanted, but at the same time a lesson and lets hope they take it in stride, not to like it...but to move on...a lot of hockey left to play.

Another pathetic weekend on the road for the black bears.

Honestly, I didn't think Maine even looked good in warmups last night. I understand the athletic department needs money or whatever but why schedule the midweek games before two of the most important weekends of the season? Did many people even go Tuesday?

With that being said, I still think this weekend was a success. Having the tiebreaker over Lowell could be huge come the end of the season.

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 - Red Light District

Just got back from a tough night out at Conte. The fit hit the shan tonight guys. Maine got absolutely sheet-wailed by a much superior BC team. Makes me puke to even say it. Importantly, it's not that Maine played well and can walk away from tonight's game with their heads high. You can't point to anything they did well tonight. BC camped out in front of the Maine net at will. No one shoved them out. No one hit 'em. The three goal barrage early in the second was freakin' humiliating. Honestly, I didn't even see Marty get pulled it happened so fast. BC is huge, just so much bigger than the Bears. Gaudreau is the only small guy. Great, huh? And they are deep, very deep. Demko played very well tonight. A freshman no less.

So I've seen the following teams play live so far this season - UMass Lowell, BU, Wisconsin, No Dakota, Holy Cross, Dartmouth, Providence, and obviously BC and Maine. Not a one of them could give the BC team tonight a run. In the long run, it will be a good thing that the Black Bears got a dose of reality tonight. I mean a real arse-kicking. I predict that they will not lose this badly (not even close) to anyone the rest of this season.

Let's move on. Don't discount the great progress made thus far. It is real. Home and home next weekend with UNH (who BTW went down in flames this weekend in Durham). Lace 'em up. There's a ton of hockey left to play.

I completly disagree. I don't see them making the tournament this year. And if you think with the direction Red has the team going with some of his recruits coming the next couple of years that THIS year is the best shot at the tourny for a while then IMO you are way off the mark Fish. This team will get better and better. Yes marty is the primary reason why they have the record they do, but just because he's gone next year doesn't mean we're going back to Timmay time. Some scorers and size coming in will make a huge difference going forward. I guess I just don't see that if Red is doing what he's doing with this group how you can think they'll be worse when more talent comes to town.

I don't see them making the NCAAs either, -never said that- but they are a lot closer than I ever thought possible... (Yeah, I don't bother to read many posts thoroughly either.)

But, if you and Bass think that Maine is going to maintain its momentum without goaltending like Marty's, you're both nuts.

My point was that this season might be Maine's best shot at a berth for the next year or two or three, because guys like Marty are few and far-between, and all the forwards in the world are not going to save you if you have shaky 'tending.

You haven't seen any of next years goalies so how do you know its going to be shaky? They will be young thats for sure but...

I'll bet today won't be pleasant in Alfond

Correct plenty of teams over the years have rode the backs of Freshman and Sophmore netminders, why can't Maine...plus this is a different ERA and Coaching Staff @ Maine...they have a Plan...as far as practice...oh ya....hopefully they got some sleep in..!

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 - Red Light District

Pretty much expected, BC created a lot of opportunities and cashed in. I thot Maine played pretty well actually. Too much hockey this week.

Demo laid a lot of rebounds right out front that Maine couldn't get to
Missed there 5hole,had my son in law with me, he's a handful
