Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 - Red Light District

Forgive me for talking a little FCS pigskin during this lapse in hockey, but did anyone bother to watch Towson's near-miraculous comeback at Eastern Washington..?

That was one of the best finishes I've ever seen in a football game, and the CAA gets to meet North Dakota State in an attempt to wrest the NC trophy away from the mighty Bison. (Ouch!)

Yes it was quite a game, tale of two halfs...Towson in the 1st half/plus that goal line stand on the last play of the half...then E.Wash. took over in the 2nd half...until that ill-fated incomplete pass on 4th down and then Towson took it down and won it...mighty task for Towson vs NDST...at least they will be playing away from the(Thunder)Dome.

(NDSU is really not an FCS school in terms of depth and talent, but maybe Towson can open-up the playbook and make it interesting... If they get their QB back from the shoulder injury he suffered as the 1st half ended.)

Anyhoo, Merry Christmas to all you bleed-Blue knuckleheads.

Red -who kinda resembles Santa- has already given us some nice gifts, but I hope he can score a couple more for us down in Florida during the post-holiday sales.

Last one on the FB...Towson will be the under-dog,but as you say they need their QB back, along with a strong running game and hopefully their DB's don't get fooled by NDST play action passes...a few quick ones on the sideline then the big strike down the middle that ate up UNH. 1st Half of Hockey has people thinking positive again, hopefully the 2nd Half brings wins on the road and somemore stunners down in the Mass. area over the Hockey East regular season...Merry Christmas 2-ALL..!

That West kid for Towson will be playing on Sundays.....maybe as an FCS guy he'll be a draft steal for a team in Foxboro....

Merry Christmas to all the Alfond faithful

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 - Red Light District

He's a sure thing, IMO... A freight train.

If Towson spreads the field and has all their options open, that game might not be a blowout.

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 - Red Light District

My apologies if this was already known, but apparently frosh forward Zach Gilenkie has left the Maine program, for now at least.

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 - Red Light District

I learned a little Maine history today. In 1854, the townspeople of Ellsworth, ME tarred and feathered the man who became the 1st President of Boston College.

http://www.patheos.com/blogs/mcnama...t-tarred-and-feathered-by-mob-maine-1854.html

Interesting. I knew that happened, but I didn't realize he went on to be the first President of B.C.

Just the other day, on the 26th, the Bangor Daily News featured an article from the Pope under the headline, "Pope denounces discrimination, violence against Christians." ( http://bangordailynews.com/2013/12/...s-discrimination-violence-against-christians/ ) There are Christians being persecuted right now in the Middle East, and even in North Korea I saw that recently an arena was filled with 10,000 people to witness 8 North Koreans getting killed in a public execution because they found Bibles in their homes.

I'm glad that the Priest, John Bapst, survived his Ellsworth ordeal. Considering he went on to be the first President of Boston College, I wonder if they used eagle feathers...

Thanks for the update. Neither Glienke or Cerretani have seen much playing time in the last few games. Best wishes to Zach.
