I know. I can't believe summer is over. My kids go back to school tomorrow. It's amazing how fast time goes as you age. Remember when summers seemed endless? Now it's a friggin blink of an eye. Looking forward to the season tho.

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 Part 1: Red Dawn

Last week I talked to Bruce Ciskie, radio voice of the UMD Bulldogs, and some Duluth fans about the possibility of a Maine - UMD home and home arrangement. Bruce said UMD coach Scott Sandelin was looking for a good road trip and you can't get much further away than Maine! The fans were behind it as well. I talked to some Maine fans and got positive feedback so I contacted Red. He informs me that he will be contacting Sandelin this week so hopefully something can be worked out for the 14-15 and 15-16 seasons. Maine has not played at Duluth since January of 1989 and they have not been to Alfond since January 1988, though there is some recent neutral site history between the teams.

Keep your fingers crossed.

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 Part 1: Red Dawn

I wonder if any maine fans on here are going to SLU to open the season?

and if there is a snowball's chance that FOMH can put together a bus in time

anyone?

Contact Cherie Damon. I would guess the answer is "no" as that is friends and family weekend at SLU and hotel rooms (especially a block of rooms) are hard to come by.

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 Part 1: Red Dawn

you goin?

looking for a lift?

No, I'm not going. I am saving my pennies to go to Notre Dame next February, plus the trips to Newark to see the Devils. I'll probably make it to all the home games though.

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 Part 1: Red Dawn

So let's play the over/under game for wins this season. I'll start. I'll set the O/U at 19. And I'll take the over. I predict 21 wins.

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 Part 1: Red Dawn

football team won 24-14 (ran out the clock with first and goal at UMass 6)...

i think red gets 'em to 17 wins...

I watched the last 10 minutes or so and it was boys against men. It sounds like Maine could have won by a lot more. What a debacle UMA has, I wonder how long they'll stay in the top division.

Are we counting games against the Canadian teams? If we are, I'd say somewhere between 20 and 23.

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 Part 1: Red Dawn

I'll go over on 19. League might be a little better but if Marty plays comparably and Shore takes a step, Timmy might've got them to 17-18. Red's conditioning will be worth 2-3 wins.

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 Part 1: Red Dawn

I'll take the under and say 18. I'm figuring they won't win against the BC, Notre Dame and BU games, but ought to at least be able to split with everyone else. The Quinnipiac game might be the one to put me over.

Anything above 18 wins is gravy. But this season I'm not placing too much importance on the number of wins. It's how they play, how they compete and battle, that I want to see. I don't weant to see any more TIMMAYtime out there. I want to see a real team play, and play hard.
