Holy F, if people aren't whining about one thing its another. Does anyway expect Red to fix this program overnight? The schedule is certainly weak but what can you do about it now? I'd be more worried about season ticket sales then anything else at this point. If you want to the team to travel to Minnie or UND the team has to get back to sell outs or it ain't happening

Hey! You call this slop? Real slop has got chunks of things in it! This is more like gruel! And this Château le Blanc '68 is supposed to be served slightly chilled! This is room temperature! What do you think we are? Animals?

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 Part 1: Red Dawn

Minnesota traveled to freakin Vermont last season! So much for your theories that they do not travel. Vermont is traveling to North Dakota this season.......I assume you will see UND in Burlington next season.

and why do you think they chose vermont? two risk free road games designed to boost their common opponents PW criteria and the only road ooc games... go look at the last 10 years of schedules for MI, MN, and WI and tell me what you see... Michigan's big risk is just about every year is the GLI...

now, some of that is bound to change with the B1G Conference as those teams are now looking for more OOC games to fill and have a little less leverage, but the modus operandi was previously "avoid risky road OOC games, beat bottom half teams at home from other conferences, and make the tournament"

that said, jfc, you ***** about everything....

I think most of this is Timmy's doing to be honest. Maybe he knew he was going to be fired and didn't care? I hope the athletic department uses this year to get new fans into the arena. I can't imagine many folks are going to be interested in paying full price for this garbage.

With the diminished amount of home games, revenue takes a hit for sure.

Honestly as a fan of hockey I'd rather see St. Lawrence or a new team out west come in but if Maine beats AIC 7-0 the fans will return. Winning cures all.

Is it that much more difficult to fly to Maine than to New Hampshire or Vermont???

Vermont may be comparable, but UNH is only an hour's bus ride from Logan, so, yes, it is that much more difficult to fly to Maine than New Hampshire. :D

Bangor does have an airport.

This has more to do with scheduling two easy road wins than travel. Two games at Alfond are not a given considering it is a difficult place to play and the team may very well beat you. That would kill your RPI and hurt your COp. Playing at Vermont for a program like Minnesota is considered two easy wins which are mostly neutral on your RPI and help the COp component.

They do? Used to have B52's coming in there regularly and it used to be an alternate touchdown for the Shuttle, it is that large as you should know. Also has been visited by the Concorde SST before it went up in smoke, quite literally :(

The Schedule is what it is,and Gendron will make due this season...look for changes come the following two seasons,North Dakota and Denver could very well be on the rader and would be ideal teams to forge agreements to play each other the next two seasons...as far as Minnesota and the Michigans:WHO REALLY CARES,they are too busy looking down their noses at everyone else...with so much change this season in College Hockey,it could very well take 2-3 years to straighten out Schedules...but think positive...a whole NEW Staff in place and from the looks of it Maine Hockey has began the Rebuilding Process.

I don't think we'll see Maine playing Denver, I hope I'm wrong though.

Shouldn't Maine have 10 Hockey East home games and 10 on the road?
That was my first thought, also. We will have 8 home, 11 away, and one at Fenway against BU. If you assume that the Fenway game was supposed to be a home game and that UConn will join UVM, BU, Merrimack and PC in the 2 home vs. 2 away rotation, Maine's conference schedule will become completely balanced in terms of home and away as of '14-'15.
