Re: Maine Hockey '13-14: Are you Red-E?
Makes sense to me. Appears to me that's what he was pizzed about. Maine's complacency in the 2nd allowed VT to score the next three goals.Don't mean to be critical, as I realize that Gendron is our coach and he can do no wrong. His analysis of last night's game makes no sense to me. He accuses the team of being complacent while having a lead in the second period and that the team thought they had the game won. He also says that's essentially why Maine lost the game. Maine scored first and had a lead for less than 1 minute before Vermont tied the game. Maine never had a lead again as the Cats scored the next three goals.
The Black Bears fell into complacency after taking the lead, according to Gendron. "We thought we had it won. That's how we played for the rest of the second period, and that's essentially how the game was lost.
The Black Bears had a few near misses, but couldn't complete the comeback. "In the third period we played our tails off, but it wasn't enough," said Gendron.
Gendron felt that his team could have won the game, but it took too long to put the afterburners on. "We needed to push back in the second period. If we had pushed back in the second we might have won this game, but we waited too late."
