Yep, after seeing the quality of the teams in that era, its almost difficult to get overly excited about the sport nowadays. I mean, Yale, Quinnipiac, UML, St Cloud, Union.....I mean, really who are these guys ??

Wow! You sound like one of those “hockey snobs” of Minnesota and Michigan.

Re: Maine Hockey '13-14: Are you Red-E?

Shorthanded goal Shore scored at Lowell last year showed me plenty about his hands. He's a pass first player, so what? He has the good to be an elite player in this league, any suggestion that he's not a keeper, a good recruit or is a bottom 6 guy on a good team is ludacris to me.

Ill take Pat Tardiff over Barry Almeida too

I don't know how snobbish it is. We have parity in college hockey like we never had in the old days. The best players back then only considered Lake State, Minnesota, Michigan, State and Wisconsin in the west and Maine and BU in the east. We stockpiled NHL picks. Every once in a while a top player went to Denver, North Dakota or Boston College but in the early to mid 90s there really were only a handful of teams. Those teams were in the Frozen Four every single year. After Maine in 1993 we went another 18 years before a first time champion. Now we have had two in three seasons. Top players may go to Union, Providence, UMass, Lowell, Yale, St Cloud, Ohio State, Miami, Western...it really doesn't matter where you go to play your college hockey - the scouts will still see you and you'll get plenty of exposure.

Are you getting him mixed up with Leen or did Maine actually score two shorties at Lowell last year?

BC's 2001 team wouldnt have gotten a sniff ....there were some BU teams though that could have, and actually did, give them a battle for a short bit. ;)

Yeah, I'm sure a team with Gionta, Kobasew, Voce, Eaves, Kolanos, Lephart, Allen, Orpik, Scuderi, Forrest, etc wouldn't have even scored a goal vs that 93 Maine team, probably lose 10-0!

Now you're making sense.

Of late these Teams play for all the marbles while Maine can only wish & watch...hopefully down the line that changes and Maine re-joins the HUNT for a NC. But fwiw nothing wrong with Parity thru-out College Hockey.

Yeah, think you are spot on there ole scout.

That's what a lot of people were saying at the Heights when Ceglarski retired...

I think BC had a "slight" bit more going for it when the program hit the skids than Maine does now. Unlike BC, the only difference between Maine hockey and say Bentley, is Shawn Walsh. You watch, Maine is now slowly settling back to its rightful place in the bottom half of the hockey world.

Colton,

I know it must be really hard to have a whole season of perceived dominance last year, where a notoriously bad Maine team still comes into your house and gets the late season sweep. It must have been hard to watch Union wipe the floor with your Eagles. This season should feature a few good BC chokes, with a heaping side of pretentious elitism. This season BC will likely match its goal production with post game date rapes, so you still have that to be proud of.

Sincerely,
The rest of the hockey world.

Howdy All! It's been a while but I'm still kickin albeit it's tough to catch any of the games given the time difference. Looking forward to seeing how all the changes play out over the next few years. I think it's exciting and fresh, but I'm trying to temper my enthusiasm and I see this season as the start of the rebuilding process. It'll take some time I figure and I'll just take whatever this season brings.

BTW, was in Moscow last week and watched CSKA Moskva host Traktor Chelyabinsk. It was pretty awesome. Any old school fans recognize either of these clubs ? :)
