Maine Black Bears 2026 Offseason: Missing Out on Mistlebacher

Lol how big of a collection do you have
Surprisingly my game used collection is pretty small and these are the first jerseys I've picked up. I have Alfie's glove from the 1999 season and a couple player sticks.

I grabbed a row of 3 chair backs from the renovations last summer and even snagged the old Hockey East Championship banner that was hanging before they replaced it.

Most of my effort (and $$) gets spent on my Black Bears card collection, which is pretty impressive at this point. Whole lot of rare Swayman, Kariya and Nadeau stuff. Idk how much interest there would be, but I can post some pics some time.

definitely gotta post pics of the collection. Especially the cards.

I'm sorry, but the "you can't control those who want to leave anyway" is the exact same mindset my managers at work have. It's a poor excuse for poor management and leadership. If you go into all this treating/expecting top tier talent to be a one and done and/or chase more money, you're failing from the start IMO.

Sure, there are anomalies that are truly using a year or two as a stepping stone to bigger and better things, whether it be money, NHL/AHL deals, etc. but I'd like to think that isn't the norm for most players (certainly not disputing the change in landscape). If we are unable to retain talent that may have otherwise stayed due to personality, cultural, (you name it) issues, we need to look in the mirror and consider maybe we're the problem and not the player.

Not implying Maine has a problem just yet, however, I agree completely that we should absolutely be disappointed that we are/were unable to keep some of the players leaving this year especially if the reason for leaving is something that is/was within our control and/or capabilities to address.

He allegedly scrapped with Lipinski and was subsequently scratched for attitude issues. The hip injury also played a part, but that’s why he was AWOL for the latter half of the campaign. What good is elite talent if they’re going to be stuck up divas who don’t buy in?
An elite program needs to be able to coach those players into buying in.

Word on the street is Gary Lee Wilson had the jersey table picked through by Friday evening.
How did he get in Friday night?

I went to a Womens hockey team auction, many years ago now. the seniors were supposedly auctioning off their jerseys for cancer research. My wife wanted one, they had pink in them. I found out that friends of the players or family were the only one who were supposed to get them (in their minds anyway) and I was asked to stop bidding them up as the friends couldn't afford that much. I have never been back.

It was sarcasm. If you've seen his jersey collection, it might make more sense.

I kind of assumed Penn State would be the one to grab Poirier with how much roster churn they've had and how few portal moves they've made to this point (just a defenseman added by my count). Never really considered Wisconsin to be the frontrunner.
Nailed this one... Seemed like a really obvious fit. Glad he's not staying in Hockey East like Marques.
