Maine Black Bears 2019: Offseason Approaching

The obvious implication being, of course, that a "lower" salary cannot be used as an excuse by Red's defenders. :)

That and there was talk at the time about how to use what money exists wisely and throwing money at it doesn't necessary produce the results.

But big pay raise for Bergeron and too bad for bowling green.

This appears to be an excellent choice. An alumnus of Miami with a proven record as a college head coach.

The other obvious implication being that its possible to hire a coach who will make your team better
Just look at his history at BG.

But Maine will just plod along at .500, plus or minus a couple, every season. Just inches away.

Sunday will be the 15th anniversary of the last time Maine won a game in the frozen four.

Yes he is lucky to go back where he played and was a assistant coach, plus they are reporting he will earn 305k @ Miami compared to 185k at BG.

Well the Frozen 4 is upon us....and we can only attend or watch on TV....but on a different note maybe and they have before but maybe just maybe Maine should do "more" recruiting in Finland/Sweden and to a lesser extent the Czech Republic. But then RG got that all taken care of....his track record really proves that[NOT].

S***, recruit in Saudi Arabia! Just recruit, already.

Re: Maine Black Bears 2019: Offseason Approaching

For our gag Christmas in 1993 I bought Grant an English-Japanese dictionary for recruiting trips to Japan after they were outscored 83-9 at World Juniors. Maybe it's time to try there.

Players aren't big or physical enough there. Too, much speed.:D

The irony is that Grant took my present and regifted it minutes later to the greatest player in program history, who happens to be of Japanese descent....

I lived in Tokyo for 5 years as an adolescent, and graduated from HS there. We tried to cultivate some interest in hockey back then, but there wasn't enough ice to go around.

There are good players in Asia, though. It's just a question of how much they can develop.

Oliver Chau (UMass Minutemen), appears to have some Asian ancestry. He is from Oakville, Ontario. Good player. Winning goal assist in OT.

Doesn’t the schedule need to come out first? This must be some sort of budget balancing gimmick.
