The SAD PART is during the Red Gendron era[error]has been more penalty's per game, when you average close to 18 minutes per game....pretty hard to score goals in the box. Just a sign that he[RG]has to be held accountable for that....and he has not by former and present day AD's. His type of hockey has gone by the way side...in todays world of College Hockey.

You can play that style of hockey and not take penalties. All it takes is a brain and discipline.

PIM/game are 12.8 in the Red Gendron era. NCAA rank is 40.5. PIM/game was 15.8 in the last six years of the Whitehead era, which averaged a rank of 39.8

Misleading as 200 of those PIMs were Joey Diamonds. He had 100 points too. I think fans and the team will accept a goon — Prestin Ryan, Diamond, Marchand — taking a zillion penalties if they produce.

Whereas Reds teams just seem undisciplined from pillar to post. Theres no one guy whos the goon.

They has 3 defensemen with more than 50 PIMs ... tells me the way theyre teaching D is horrible. Like if you led the NFL is DPI calls youd probably look at the way your secondary coach is teaching technique right?

I agree with both statements, my miff is that isn't happening under Gendrons teams....and will not change in the next year or two...imo. As you say you can play physical but with control....but there style does not apply to that.

But this season wasn't it closer to 18 minutes per game at some point..?

Maybe at some point, but PIM/game finalized at 13.69 for the season. That is down from last season's peak of 15.08 under Gendron. Maine had 18.5 PIM/game in 2012 and 18.5 in 2011.

OK...I think the last 10 or so games they dropped in the amount of penalty's they took per game...but I would like to see the average drop to under 10 min per game.

They had gotten the average down to ~12.5 but that last game at Northeastern killed it.

Maine was at 9.77 in 2014.

The lowest opponent PIM/game was 10.3 (2014, 2016) and has averaged 11.1 for the six years under Red.

Re: Maine Black Bears 2019: Offseason Approaching

Cornell fans cheering "Kill Red, kill." That seems a tad harsh.

Diamond had one good year with points, otherwise he drove me nuts and those dumb penalties. He was/is a tank though.

Wow, didn’t see Norteastern getting blown out. Primeau not looking like Primeau. The first goal he gave up was soft and not sure he’s seeing the puck.

Watching them and not seeing that coming...BUT Cornell has worked them hard all game long.

Watching UMD and BG in OT, no whistle for over 7 minutes. Going to be some dead legs and a mistake with that pace

Re: Maine Black Bears 2019: Offseason Approaching

UMD with the winner on a rebound
