Re: Maine 2012-13 Part 3D: Still digging

It appears that Alfond Arena will now be an ice rink only. While the final decision has not officially been made, both women's and men's basketball will be played at the new Cross Center. No more dismantling glass and putting down floor. Should open up more practice and games for other groups.

Its good they'll be playing BBall at the Cross Center.

Re: Maine 2012-13 Part 3D: Still digging

What happened to BBall playing in a renovated PIT?
That would have been better, I loved watching BBall at the pit but making it a 21st century building was megabucks.

I remember watching Nick Susi putting the clamps on Julius Erving at the Pit, well.....for 3 quarters anyway, until Doctor J decided to dominate the rest of the game. :)

Are they going to bus students (other than the band) down to the games? Being off campus would lose some of the student atmosphere.

[note...I did not read the article...]
There was a recent article (I'm too lazy to look it up) that said they would bus students to Bangor for hoops. I think that is the solution if they decide to play in Bangor, I just dislike off-campus venues. In my opinion, students should be able to walk to games. Riding a bus requires a certain amount of foresight that college students don't always display, and it would clearly require a certain amount of decorum that is better left behind for a student section to be what a student section should be.

Yeah but if they're smart (which they arent) they'll all pile into vehicles like the drunkens from BC and head over early, hit the hollywood slots, rape, pillage and drink and then watch B Ball. Something I would've given considerable thought to when I was there. :D

.....Lay your weary head to rest, don't you coach no more

Its a mans job Tim and we have several men in the wings salivating to do the job right. ;) Men with NHL experience, men with winning coaching experience even. Men with connections to known winners and teachers of the game....the way its supposed to be played, not that wimpy style you employ.

Re: Maine 2012-13 Part 3D: Still digging

Conor Riley and Kyle Williams on defense this weekend with Bill Norman to play forward.

Who else is going to the games this weekend?

That was a good maine team, Susi, peter Gavett, Bruce Stinson, Tony Hamlin, Paul Bessey but the Dr was in another world.
