LSSU Lakers 2017 off-season thread

Re: LSSU Lakers 2017 off-season thread

Coaches meetings in Florida this week. Probably will see our full 2017-18 schedule fairly soon; I think Damon wanted to get with some other league coaches to discuss/finalize dates while there. Also some rumblings about Arizona State joining the WCHA for the 2018-19 season. If that happens, it wouldn't be a big surprise but would likely be a temporary move for them.

Re: LSSU Lakers 2017 off-season thread

It looks like the Lakers will be playing at Denver October 20-21.

I don't know the last time LSSU played DU, but it is good to see a new team on the schedule. Magness should have a good crowd as the National Championship banner should be hung that weekend.

I think it was 2010 at a tournament in Denver.

How difficult do you think it will be to get tickets that weekend? I was thinking of making the trip out there for the games.

Lots of travel for the Lakers in 2017-18. A trip to Denver, Pittsburgh for a tournament, Huntsville, Bemidji and Anchorage.

Finding tickets probably won't be too difficult. But affording them is another question, since I'm pretty sure they go for a pretty penny, even if it isn't banner hanging weekend. (Not as much as NoDak, but still).

Depending on what weekend it falls, and what my schedule looks like, I may try to make the trip to Pittsburgh. It's a bit of a hike, but doable.

Assuming this will be for the Three Rivers Classic, this past season it was December 29-30 (Thursday-Friday). Probably around the same time next season.

Yeah, but I'm on-call every other week, so I may not be able to go because of that.

Single game tickets aren't available yet. My guess $20-25 on low end: $40-45 on high end. Doesn't appear there are a lot of high end tickets available on the seating chart.

Congratulations to Laker players Gus Correale, Gordie Defiel, and Jim Roll plus Laker Student Manager Wes DeJong on their graduation today!

Yuki Miura with the game winning OT goal in a Waterloo 2-1 win over Sioux City in the USHL playoffs today. Yuki will be with the Lakers this Fall.

Re: LSSU Lakers 2017 off-season thread

A big congrats to former LSSU standout defenceman and Garden River First Nation product Owen Headrick, who had an assist for Erie in their clinching victory over Owen Sound, winning the Western Conference title in the Ontario Hockey League. The smooth-skating 1997 birth-year defender totaled three assists in Erie’s last two wins over Owen Sound. Erie will face the Eastern Conference champion Mississauga Steelheads for the OHL crown.

Re: LSSU Lakers 2017 off-season thread

In the USHL Phase 2 draft today, some of our future Laker commits were selected. This could be some indication of where they may play next season, but certainly not a sure thing. It's more of an establishment of who currently has their USHL rights. Players selected were Jacob Crespi (Tri-City), Nico Esposito-Selivanov (Sioux City), Ashton Calder (Lincoln), and Robert Blueger (Fargo). Some of our other future commits could possibly wind up in the USHL next season also.
