Well we beat Miami behind the spectacular goaltending of Jeff Jakaitis. Defiel did that tongiht against Mankato. The question is can he do it two games in a row like Jakaitis did?

Also Crawford mentioned during the broadcast that Michigan State will play at Abel Arena in October. We also will play at Nebraska Omaha and as expected we play in the Shillelagh Tournament at Notre Dame Thanksgiving weekend.

Did Globke not make the trip ? Sometimes all it take is the guy between the pipes stonewalling the other team and you get a huge upset and that we did.Gordie became Stonewall Defiel Saturday evening . l

McArdle and Patterson were the two extra guys making the trip. We might see one or both of them in the lineup tonight (for some fresh legs).

Makes you wonder if Globke is high on the return list for next season.

I was just listening to last nights highlights on the WCHA page and I could have sworn the MN. State announcer said the Alaska teams are done for the season and it will be decided if they are going to even have hockey up there next season.

Oil is big to the Alaskan economy and with oil prices being way down the state of Alaska is having budget shortfalls They are looking to make cuts in the state university system and there is a fear that athletics could take a hit.

Yes the state is getting less money from the oil companies so the state has less money to fund the universities. I'm not sure how much but both institutions in Alaska are facing difficult and deep cuts to them. One very sad and scary situation for everyone involved up there.

Michigan made huge cuts to Universities a few years ago and smaller schools like Lake State felt the pinch. The state of Michigan also did away with the tax credit for donations to state schools which IMO was stupid and also hurtful to the smaller school's.

Win or lose tonight, this team gives you a feeling that things have finally turned a corner and the future is looking brighter than it has in years.
