Agreed! I think you could make a case for a number of the rookies this year, given that most of them were not playing alongside veterans. They were having to rely on other rookies which, to me, says a tremendous amount about their abilities.

Kinda makes you wonder if they had too hard of a time picking among our several rookie candidates so they took the easy way out and didn't pick any of them.

Whatever kind of game plan the lakers went with the last time they played MN. State, might be wise to shake things up this time.

The Lakers were pretty much in the game until the mid way point of the 3rd period when the wheels fell off. Definitely a better showing than last season's game one at Mankato at least. We definitely have to do much better in special teams tomorrow or else the season is over.

Yep. We played pretty competitively overall but those two things did us in. Really need to hold Mankato to no more than 2 goals tomorrow night to give us a decent shot at winning.

If the lakers bring in some speed and offense , this will be a very good team come next season.

They've improved their speed with this season's freshman class and I think we'll continue to see an improvement in overall team speed in coming seasons. For next season, I think Luke Morgan is supposed to have a lot of speed. I would guess Maz Humitz does also since he's a little guy. Bindulis on D is also supposed to be a very good skater. The offense should improve just from the fact that our current young guys will have a season of experience under their belts, plus there is more scoring potential from incoming forwards than the ones we are losing.

The speed you're playing with is a night and day difference from last year, and the puck battles were much more competitive than when you were here in January. Things certainly look to be going in the right direction.

Thanks for your input. I agree that we're going in the right direction. Next season the Lakers should be better yet, and in two seasons I think they could be really good.

That's the way I feel as well. This freshmen class is just breaking the surface.

If the Lakers can stay healthy and get the same solid goaltending, I think we should move up in the standings and finish at or above .500.

For only the 3rd time since Jeff Jackson left, the Lakers are one win away from advancing to the league final four. Thank you Gordie! I hope he has enough in the tank to play like this tomorrow.

It sounds like he will. Kudos to the special teams tonight as well.

Also Crawford mentioned during the broadcast that Michigan State will play at Abel Arena in October. We also will play at Nebraska Omaha and as expected we play in the Shillelagh Tournament at Notre Dame Thanksgiving weekend.
