LSSU Lakers 2014 off-season thread (part 2)

Re: LSSU Lakers 2014 off-season thread (part 2)

They haven't done a press release yet announcing the schedule. Perhaps this is just a preliminary schedule and they are still trying to find another non-conference opponent to play, preferably at home. Excluding exhibition games, we only played 36 games this past season.

That' true, however it's almost July and about 80% of teams have already released schedules.

This Renz seems to have played in so few games over a season. Is he injury prone ?
I know he was injured the early portion of this past season but I don't recall what type of injury he had. He was the captain of his Junior team and the Lakers seem to like those type of players. My impression is that he's more of a defensive minded (shut down) D-man.

Also they fixed the schedule. They put in Bemidji State where they had Bowling Green State by mistake.

Actually I noticed more errors on the schedule. They list the Estero, Florida tournament dates for December 26-27. It's actually supposed to be December 28-29. They also incorrectly list the tournament being in Tampa Bay instead of Estero. Also the opponents are Cornell on December 28 and then either Notre Dame or Miami on December 29.

Also I guess it's not a huge deal if we are four games short on NC games. On years we didn't play UAF in the CCHA, we played 34 regular season games which will be the same number of games this season assuming NC games aren't added.

Sounds like someone jumped the gun without double checking the info and making sure the schedule was accurate.

I don't believe the schedule was announced or there are any active links to it.

I plan on going to all the home games and taking the trex up north, eh.
I am so proud the Lakers hired Mr Whitten and I plan sitting behind the Lakers bench cheering as they turn things around. Hockey is so important in SSM. The people need to show up at the rink and cheer for this great group of coaches that are coaching my favorite Lakers.

There still hasn't been a press release for this season's schedule though. I'm guessing it will be out in the next week or two. Most likely exhibition games are still being finalized and will be added to the schedule once that happens.

Re: LSSU Lakers 2014 off-season thread (part 2)

Well we're in the Summer doldrums so things are pretty quiet. About the only official news we can expect is an official press release (anytime now) providing the finalized schedule for this coming season, and a press release (probably late Summer or Early Fall) covering the additional recruits who will have signed since the Spring recruit announcement. And we'll likely get a report from one or both of the recruiting web sites with our last recruit (should be a forward) for this coming season, assuming there will in fact be one more recruit. And who knows, perhaps we'll get one or more commitments for future seasons this Summer, although that seems more likely to happen once hockey season is underway again in the Fall (unless Damon has someone already targeted for the future and is trying to get a commitment now).

Happy 4th of July fellow Laker fans! ONLY three months to go until the Damon Whitten era starts.
