LSSU Lakers 2014-15

Re: LSSU Lakers 2014-15

It would have been nice, if the Lakers schedule would have had the home games against Northern and Tech in the upcoming bye weeks rather than October.

Right now, I think they could split with either of those teams at home, which would have them in a battle for home ice rather than the battle for 7-10.

It would be great if they can find a way to tie or win tonight.

I'm nervous about LSSU's run here, but the fact is that UAH will have two games-in-hand after this weekend. That series in the Soo will be key.

Looking at Ferris State's remaining schedule, I think both the Lakers and Chargers could have the opportunity to catch them.

4 of the final 6 series for Ferris State are on the road, with 2 of those road series being at UAH and LSSU.

Their other 2 road series are at Mankato and BG which will be tough.

Ferris also has home series against Bemidji and BG.

Got to bust your bubble......but is that your best shot to ASSUME "Roque folk". GET A GRIP

How refreshing to see this team IMPROVE through out the year, getting better game by game rather than watching it storm out of the gate only to have it flop aroung like a soon to be dead fish by the end of the season....this team is only going to get stronger as the quality of recuits increases because of the great job this coaching staff has done.

Re: LSSU Lakers 2014-15

congrats on your hard-fought win last night, and sympathy for being burdened with the roquettes. ;)

I appreciate that. There are still going to be bumps along the road, especially this season, but the light at the end of the tunnel is looking increasingly bright.

I think Damon brought a positive attitude and message to the Soo and it seems to be paying off. Hopefully it will only get better as he implements his system with his recruits.

I thought they still played very well tonight, even though they lost. They had plenty of opportunities to get it back to a 1 goal game, but just could not capitalize tonight.

Dug too big of a hole with the early penalty trouble tonight.

Re: LSSU Lakers 2014-15

As Damon has said a few tines, they currently lack someone who can do a good job of running the PP. It's going to take some time to get that straightened out. Roll may eventually be a guy who can do that in the future, or it may be one of the recruits who fills that role.

Don't be too discouraged by the PP from this weekend. BGSU's PK has made everyone look bad. Not saying you don't need a different point man out there, just that what happened to you this weekend happens to everyone.

The problem is it's been a season long problem.

The Lakers had stretches Saturday where they played well but losing Nardi early along with the penalty troubles set them back on their heels a bit. They had great chances to get within a goal but just couldn't capitalize. The team should be proud of how they played as a whole this weekend. I know I am. Good job Lakers.

On Friday morning I would have been more than happy with a split on the road against a top ten team.

Re: LSSU Lakers 2014-15

Our sweep last weekend looks even more impressive with Bemidji State winning the North Star College Cup after beating two very good teams.

I'm happy with the split. We should be fine as far as making the playoffs go if we split the rest of our road series and sweep our remaining home series. At least both UAA and UAH have a bit of a tougher schedule than us down the stretch.

Re: LSSU Lakers 2014-15

The major penalty and the Lakers lack of working the power play really kept the Lakers bogged up in their end way too long . Defiel may become one hell of a college goalie as the team gets better and better recruits come in to give him more offense. Bowling Green has a very agressive team and their constant attacking proved at times to be overwhelming. Bowling Green may have a very good PK but the issue isn't how good it is but how much the Lakers struggle with their power play regardless of what team they play.

It was good to see how many fans are out to support Bowling Green as in the past that stadium was more empty than full and that just goes to show you how important it is to put a winner out on the ice to bring people back in. As the Lakers improve so should the amount of fans that will start showing up for games.

They way they are playing right now, I think this team will make the playoffs. I hope to make it up for the Huntsville series in a couple weeks, as that should be a good series with both teams playing better this season.

At this point, I think LSSU, UAH, and Bemidji would all have a good chance of winning a road playoff series. All 3 have goaltenders capable of stealing a couple of games.
