Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2012-2013, Part 2
This is the best post I have ever seen. Completely sums it up. Great Job!
Lakers2Glory, I understand you are doing your job which isn’t an easy task right now, but you just can’t say that you know the players and cheer for the coach at the same time.
You are asking for "rational thinking" when this forum has never been more rational; at last we are looking at facts and the big picture.
Being rational would also mean applying the coach’s own words to himself; but we would have been writing about someone else for many years now.
After 8 years as head coach+Clarkson+LSSU adding up to about 25 years, do you really consider an additional 2 years trial period as a rational suggestion ?
Since you have an easy access to the coach’s office and watch the practices enough to back his positions when they are questioned, why don’t you share some rational comments about the players physical and mental preparation.
But why isn’t anybody looking at the root causes ?
If the coach is doing such a great job for so little money, he really is a bargain. Why haven’t the 85000$ been outbid then ?
Maybe be (just suggesting) because, over the last 30 years, coaches, players, referees and athletic directors have made up their minds and shared their views. May be the pre-season polls just tell us that no matter who is on the ice, the Lakers can’t be expected to overcome that handicap and meet their own goals (what was it for this season ?).
Yes they finished 8th, which is not what was expected, and one game could have made it 10th (let alone national rankings).
Could it be that tricking behind the boss’ back, involving the police with a referee, intimidating players, and manipulating the medias … makes it tough to expect loyalty and commitment from individuals on a team.
What about inconsistency year in year out ? Can it be suggested that the common denominator is inconsistent ?
But you are right. The guys on the team are great, and Monardo,as many others, tried hard throughout the season … and the previous, and the previous .... Each summer, they go home and do their best to remedy the lacks you must have noticed when watching practices and talking to the players you know.
Is it a possibility that even the best summer preparation and high spirit can fall apart as the season progress because it is undermined by the person in charge ?
Just asking ! Feel free to provides facts in a rational and civil manner.
Anyway, in an environment where everybody is struggling for survival, it looks like the administration is considering mediocrity as better than death, choosing to deal with issues they consider more important.
An additional win or two next season, and they might be relieved to give at go for a few years more.
