LSSU at NMU: I Can Has Home Ice?

Re: LSSU at NMU: I Can Has Home Ice?

From what I can tell, a shootout win isn't good enough for NMU. That would mean they still have only 9 wins with another point in the shootout win column. Both UM and BGSU already have 10 wins. The first tie breaker is league wins. The Cats need an outright 3 point victory and a UM and/or BGSU loss to gain home ice.

Re: LSSU at NMU: I Can Has Home Ice?

Here's how it breaks down as long as there are no ties/shootouts. Pick your poison.

LSS- W Mich-W BG-W LSS to Michigan, NMU to BG

LSS-W Mich-L BG-W Mich to LSS, NMU to BG

LSS-W Mich-W BG-L BG to LSS, NMU to Mich

LSS-L Mich-L BG-L LSS to NMU, Mich to BG

LSS-L Mich-W BG-L LSS to Mich, BG to NMU

LSS-L Mich-L BG-W LSS to BG, Mich to NMU

One more option I did not see above:

LSS-W Mich-L BG-L NMU to LSSU, Mich to BG

Re: LSSU at NMU: I Can Has Home Ice?

Defense was pretty solid.

That's what I thought; but, that's not what Coach Kyle thought. See & listen to: Northern-Michigan-survives-up-and-down-battle-with-Lake-Superior-State

I just thought, despite all the SOGs and rebounds, Coreau, the D-men, and forwards kept the puck out of the net (until the shorty in the 3rd) and seemed to gain control of the loose puck in the d-zone and get it out of the zone for the most part. Hopefully, they can do the same tonight.

Re: LSSU at NMU: I Can Has Home Ice?

Sorry about that. There are 8 combinations, not 6. Now figure out the scenarios with various ties and shoot out wins:)

NMU gets home ice with a 3 pt win and a loss or shootout loss by either BG or Ann Arbor. They would then be tied in league wins, but NMU holds the tiebreakers by going 1-0-1 against UM, and splitting with BG, but having the edge in total goals. NMU wins a 3 way tie at 35 pts. Bowling Green wins a 3 way tie at 34 pts.

It will interesting if this game ends up in overtime. I would think Northern or LSSU would try to pull the goalie in order to secure home ice during the OT period.
