LSSU at NMU Feb. 27/28: Home ice, playoff positioning, and the Cappo Cup.

NMU kept pace with Bemidji for the final home ice spot earning a sweep at Bowling Green.

LSSU is coming off of a bye and is hoping to stay ahead of Anchorage or pull ahead of Huntsville for a playoff spot.

The Wildcats swept the Lakers back in October and have a 2 game, 7-2 goal lead in the Cappo Cup.

Go!

And I just realized I wrote Feb. 27/28 on last weeks thread... Whoopsie!

Play this coming weekend like we played against BG and the Cats will put themselves into a good position heading into the final weekend. Wildcat sweep!

This is where the Cats have to start taking things one weekend at a time... LSSU has a crap ton to stuff riding on this weekend... They are going to be a very dangerous team with their playoff lives on the line... They sat out last season's playoffs... They don't want to see that happen again... They will do their best to see they leave this weekend with points... It's going to be a battle...

Looking forward to the journey across the Seney stretch. Should be some terrific UP college hockey!

Hate to beat the dead horse here but I must pop the weekly question, Dahlstrom and Shine updates?

I predict goals will be hard to come by for both teams this weekend.

Game Day. Get out to the BEC tonight Marquette. Hope to see a good turnout of Laker fans as well. Pretty huge series for both teams.

Great game. Playing through a lot of injuries right now. Lakers looked fast out of the gates and had some good pressure at times, several penalties however. Doan made some good saves for the Cats to get the shutout.

2,065 for the official attendance. That's rough. Were there other events going on in town Friday night? Students heading home for break?

Good job LSSU. Hope you play as hard in the playoffs as you did last night. Would be great to see all 3 UP teams make the finals of the WCHA.
