Lowell, BU @ Mich. St, Michigan ... 10/25-26

Re: Lowell, BU @ Mich. St, Michigan ... 10/25-26

Wish I could have swung this trip... I want to get over to these schools at some point either for hockey or academically (seminar talk).

Just sent a (accepted) paper back to JASA with a Michigoon co-author.

My mother also has a college friend whose son played football four years at Michigan State.

So, very loose connections. I could use a trip right about now but so it goes.

It's only an 8 maybe 9 hour drive from DC. I have an extra ticket for the Lowell @ Michigan game which you could have for free.

It's been a frustrating (to put it mildly) start for the Hawks. The hope is a road trip will help bring them together. We'll see.

Normally I'd be posting a lot more, but I'm slightly distracted. :)

Is it time for hockey yet? Today is dragging.

Should be some good games.

Michigan will be starting our freshman goalie again, but he looked good when he had to come in against UNH last weekend.

BU is tought to figure out. Fairly young team, especially in net. Blows out an experienced Badgers team, but loses at home to RPI. I'm sure they'll be ready to play at Yost.

The last time UML came into Yost in 1999 they got blown out both nights (8-1, 5-1) during the Comrie/Cammellari/Kosick/Jillson era.I imagine that this edition will be much tougher.

Uh oh, what are you up to now

Re: Lowell, BU @ Mich. St, Michigan ... 10/25-26

The Spartans are a bit shorthanded, and were shorthanded (in a different sense) last Saturday, giving up 4 power play goals while trying to kill off 6 consecutive penalties. On the other hand, it was nice to see some physical play from our new d-men. So if MSU can somehow stay out of the penalty box (or their PK gets way better in a way-hurry), and the (likely) 6 dressed freshmen can continue to contribute and grow, the Green&White have a chance at knocking off one of these two Massachusetts teams. We may have the best netminder in B1G and that's good for some wins this season.

Time will tell... but from the sample size that I saw (only the games against BU), RPI was the better team between Wisco and RPI.

Actually our youth is more at the forward position than in net. I'd say that for us, depth and experience at forward is a bigger possible issue than our goalie situation. I think we dressed 6 freshman forwards last weekend both nights.

Looking forward to seeing how BU responds on the road against some typically high end competition this weekend.

I was there ... fun trip, but for the games.

Lowell has no power play so far, so that shouldn't be problem for you.

Lots of open seats still available at Munn tonight. Hopefully the MSUFCU ticket deal brings some people in.

As for the actual games: After last weekend I'm just hoping we keep the goal differential around -6 for the weekend.

Sandbag alert.

I'll still be there, don't worry. A big part of what happens this weekend is if we can stay out of the box. Is Sorenson still out? If so, that'll hurt but I think a weekend of games under their belt along with the first home games should give the team a boost. Probably didn't help MSU was starting the season on Olympic ice while UMass had already played BU and UML.

Well the BU v Michigan was sure fun. BU played a pretty good game blocking a lot of shots, and the goalie played out of his mind. Super impressive.

Thankfully, the shots finally went in for us.

Love these big games.

No shots on five power plays. Even with the worst team of pee-wee players, how on earth is that even possible?!
