Re: Looking For More Articles

Wasn't there a pre-season promo last year where the players were featured and it was really cheesy (dooshy)? Am I remembering that right?

Looked high and low for it but couldn't find it.

Also looked for Wooger's "Everyone in here is standing except for the people in wheelchairs" blast from Mankato a few years ago, but no luck there either.

The "dooshy" video was when Hoeffel was a Senior I believe, so that was 2 years ago. I don't remember a dooshy one last year.

The Wooger "everyone standing" bit was an all time classic, not sure if there was an article (or video) on it but it was glorious.

Edit: they do have audio. http://www.gopherpucklive.com/audio/woog_wheelchair.mp3

My favorite Wooger moment was during a game on Valentine's day, or close to Valentine's day. They sent Robbie or Gorg or one of their other lackeys to the student section to find a winner for their giveaway. They picked 2 sluttily dressed co-eds holding signs that asked Woog to be their Valentine. There was the usual banter between the guy in student section and Woog in the booth, and then (I think it was Robbie) said "But Doug, what would you do with 2 Valentines?" to which Wooger responds "Oh, I could think of a few things." :D

Yeah I remember that, the Wooger was great I wish he was still in the booth.

Re: Looking For More Articles

Over on GPL they have a "Woogisms" section, it's great.

A Woogism is an entertaining and/or confusing statement by former Gopher player, Gopher coach, and now former FSNorth television color commentator Doug Woog. Unlike other collections of 'isms, Woogisms rarely include malapropisms (misspeaks) but are outrageous, random statements made during the course of a game or in pre/post coverage. Most of them occurred along side of Frank Mazzocco, the voice of Gopher Hockey. In 2010, Frank was let go by FSNorth and Doug's roll with the broadcast will be limited to pre and post games. I have feeling that we won't hear a lot of new Woogisms any time soon..... But here is a list of what we have heard over the past years.

I think the occurrence of "woogisms" had less to do with how clever he was and more to do with how much whiskey he drank... after he got off the sauce he wasn't nearly as fun. A couple years back at the Ralph he turned into a bumbling baffoon during the post-game, couldn't take the heat from the nasty Sioux fans I guess.:p
