Interested to see how some of the future LEC schools match up this year. Will be a lot of familiarity between the NEHC schools jumping to the LEC, but throwing Plymouth State, UMass Dartmouth, and Keene ("F Keene State") in will shake things up. For a bit of non-NEHC preview:
- Plymouth is at Babson (Nov 2nd), at NEC (Nov 9th), at UMD (Dec 5th) for MASCAC, could face Norwich at the Northfield Tourney (Jan 3rd/4th), and vs UMD at home (Feb 1st).
- UMD plays Keene (Nov 9th), at Keene (Nov 16th), vs Plymouth (Dec 5th), at UMass Boston for the Codfish (Jan 3rd/4th), at Plymouth (Feb 1st).
- Keene plays at Castleton (Nov 2nd), at UMD (Nov 9th), vs UMD (Nov 16th), and could face Castleton at the Terry Moran Inv (Nov 29th/30th).
Overall impression, Plymouth has a tough start out-of-conference so the team will be looking to prove they can be competitive in the tourney again, prove they can beat future LEC rivals (with Babson and Norwich), and get an 8th straight MASCAC title before freeing them from an annual beatdown. UMD has little non-MASCAC action so unless they play consistently, make a good run in MASCAC, and bring in some good recruits they might be in for a rough transition. Keene is a bit of a wildcard but will take time to find form... has a packed November, will start the new year against Plattsburgh, Amherst, and Curry, and has some D2 teams mixed in. No clue how they look for recruiting, but seems like they want to run the gauntlet to get ready for LEC action.
