Lake Superior State Hockey Lakers 2013-2014 (part II)

Re: Lake Superior State Hockey Lakers 2013-2014 (part II)

I think the Lakers will fall out of the top 20 if they get swept this weekend. Hopefully the Lakers can get at least a split this weekend and then sweep the January homestand.

I think that the goal is to probably win 5 of the next 6 with the 4 game home stand after Alaska. It would be nice to get 3 points in Alaska, but I would be happy with a split.

I was surprised to see that they are still 13 in the Pairwise after getting swept by Ferris.

I think Bill went to Alaska a couple times back in the 90's. I am guessing it is mostly due to cost why he does not go.

Jim just said on the radio show that the total cost for just the flights to Alaska is $21,000 for the 26 team members.

That sounds about right. $800 a ticket. Don't know who Jim is but ask him how many tickets UAA supplied the team with.
Then add in the bus airport/hotel/arena/hotel/airport, hotel rooms, food.
And come on, don't make em sit in a hotel room the whole time they're here.
Hire a bus and do a little sight seeing. At the minimum a city tour.
Alaska is an expensive but great trip to make.
Hope some of you fans make the trip. If you do email me and maybe we could get together to tip one. Or a couple.

Jim Roque is the coach. He said that UAA paid about 30% of the ticket cost.

Why isn't the game on YES FM yet?

Edit: Nevermind, it's on 1400 AM. Why it's on there, I don't know, but that is pretty stupid.

Edit: Game is not on? What the hell!

Good to see Miller and Nardi get their first career goals in the 2nd. Big penalty kill to start the 3rd.

Big indeed. If they stay out of the penalty box and don't sit back, they should win this game. If they don't UAA will come back to tie or win the game.

Nice to see the freshmen contribute. They have contributed a lot than I expected so far this season.

It sure is nice to see the freshmen putting up numbers. The coaches did a good job with this recruiting class.

Nice win tonight. Another come from behind victory which came against a UAA team that's been very good at home this season.

Re: Lake Superior State Hockey Lakers 2013-2014 (part II)

Also last night's victory was Jim Roque's 130th win as a Laker coach. That ties him with Ron Mason for 3rd most all time for LSSU hockey coaching wins.

Probably jinxed em with that post. You should be thanking me.
Guess we'll have to settle for the split.

The Lakers have a pretty poor record on Saturday nights. They have lost 5 out of their last 6 games on Saturday nights, so UAA could very well get the split.

In order for the Lakers to win, the Lakers need a good first period, stay out of the penalty box and have Kevin Kapalka be Kevin Kapalka.
