I think that's a little hyperbolic....in my mind a "huge disappointment" would be losing to UAH or something like that, granted we were at home and you'd like to think that would give us a boost but at the end of the day Ferris State was the number 6 team in the country and will probably be a top 5 team this week, and they haven't lost a game since October 18th. That is a hell of a hockey team and we were competitive but came up short. We see them again the last series of the season so hopefully we will get them then. This weekend goes to show that Ferris is unquestionably the team to beat in the WCHA as of now, but to say this was a huge disappointment or to lose hopeI think is a little ridiculous....If anything, categorizing this as a "huge disappointment " is a great complement to this Laker team...remember at the end of summer when many on this very thread were expecting an 8th place or lower finish in the conference this season? And now in December we lose a couple competitive games to one of the best teams in the nation and we're supposed to be hugely disappointed?? Keep some perspective here!

Huge disappointment.

Really??? Yes, I expected a split, but I saw a team that played hard all weekend. The first 5 minutes Friday night were horrible. The D was off, KK was somewhere else, the freshmen were playing like freshmen. But, they sucked it up and fought hard the rest of the game. The past few years, they would have given up, hung their heads and conceded the loss in the first period. Saturday, was a hard fought game. Yes, the PP was not working, it's been on and off all year. After being outshot in most of the games so far this year, the Lakers outshot Ferris both nights.
The only disappointment was the crowd. Realistically, about 1000 people both nights. I noticed a lot of season ticket seats around me empty. I know there is a lot of other stuff going on this time of year, but if you weren't there, you missed 2 really good games.
Ferris has a great goaltender, and I am looking forward to watching them play Michigan on Wednesday night.

Is that the radio guy or the guy on the America One broadcast? Because the color guy on the America One broadcast was horrible too. The play by play guy was not so bad.

The America One color analyst is a student. Cut those guys some slack, eh? They are in their first season doing commentary for TV, which is way different than radio. Hell, the league isn't even mandating the new system until next year. Consider it a bonus your getting more for your $8 this year than 1 standard def camera with no replays.

Wish I could.

Speaking of Alaska, do we make one or two Alaska trips next season? Luckily we just go to Anchorage this season and not Fairbanks.

Radio guy Mike booshay Man is that guy bad. Crawford would be better with you him, and was for 45 years. Please someone BRING BACK MIKE ELLIS.

Seawolf radio play by play (not sure about America One TV from here) Kurt Haider is one of the best in the business at any level.
Wish I could say the same for our color guy.

Just not as hockey savvy as we'd like.
But sticking with the play by play, Kurt is pretty hard to beat.
Makes the calls by name for both teams and stays on top of the action consistently. Paints an excellent word picture of the game.
Throw in that he's not a homer and is a genuinely nice guy and what's not to like?

The Laker radio station will be using the Anchorage broadcast for the weekend, as the LSSU broadcaster does not make the Alaska trip.

I wonder why Crawford doesn''t make the trips to Alaska? Does he hate flying? I think he used to make trips to Alaska in the '90s but I could be wrong.

Don't know what he would pay for a plane ride this weekend but MSP/ANC/MSP is around $800.
Then a car/taxi, hotel and meals.
Gets a little pricey and has been known to inhibit the travel bug.

The owner of his radio station can't pay his electric bill most months much less for a plane ticket to AK.

Lakers ranked #17 in this week's USCHO poll. This is the 8th straight week the Lakers have been ranked in the top 20!

Also Ferris State is ranked #4 with three 1st place votes.

Somehow I don't think they will stay in the top 20 of any rankings much longer if they continue to do no better than splits (on the average). Sooner or later they will drop out. If they want to stay ranked, they need to get some more sweeps and avoid getting swept.

I think the Lakers will fall out of the top 20 if they get swept this weekend. Hopefully the Lakers can get at least a split this weekend and then sweep the January homestand.
