Re: Lake Superior State Hockey Lakers 2013-2014 (part II)

Congrats on a sweep, I enjoyed the games on YES FM . They attempted to give some balance to
the broadcast-appreciated here Cant explain the inbalance in penalties or RMUs inability to
take advantage, kudos to the PK.
Iyzk RMUs goalie broke his ankle, dont know how.

Next game Niagara , tough game.

Broken Ankle? That is serious considering it was hard to tell during the game what even happened. Freak accident that he will hopefully be able to come back from.

My biggest takeaway from the past weekend is the overall shape/fitness of the guys. Past few Laker teams, especially this early in the season, would have sputtered to the finish after doing that much penalty killing throughout the weekend. They didn't seem to lose much at the end of both games. Really speaks volumes to the off-season work by the guys and Alex Vanos' strength and conditioning program. Hopefully that pays dividends toward the end of the year.

Re: Lake Superior State Hockey Lakers 2013-2014 (part II)

Did anyone get the video feed for these games? I'm wondering if it is worth it. The old B2 video feed was so grainy and choppy that I never bothered after the first few times I tried it.

Re: Lake Superior State Hockey Lakers 2013-2014 (part II)

Where are you seeing that on the website? It's his 4th season with the Lakers. The website roster identifies him as a Senior. The game program identifies him as a Senior.

When the 2013-14 roster was first posted, he was listed as a Jr. and the other two goalies as seniors. This could have just been a mistake or oversite that was recently fixed. Again, when it comes to Ravn everything is just a guess.

Re: Lake Superior State Hockey Lakers 2013-2014 (part II)

Ravn appears to be a redshirt junior, as he did not see any action in 11-12. He could be a senior in college, but he has junior eligibility.

I'll be very happy if the Lakers can manage at least a split this weekend on the road. Union is a pretty good team.

As an FYI, the exhibition home game is Tuesday, October 29th. Bill is saying it is this Tuesday the 22nd, which is incorrect according to the schedule.

Lakers win 6-5 in overtime. They trailed 1-0, 2-1, 3-2, and 4-3, but kept battling back. Perfetto with the game-winner, also had 3 assists. Globke also had 3 assists. Sternberg with a goal and 2 assists. Murdock had 29 saves, but gave up 5 goals. Lakers were outshot 34-23. Great win!

Yes, big road win. We caught a break in that Union's #1 goalie is out with a concussion and they had to go with their #2 goalie. We needed to take advantage of that and did, scoring 6 goals on 23 shots. Pretty efficient.

Great win for the Lakers tonight, even better that it came in over time on the road. Though its great to see games in hand it nice to see them fight back and take a close game. To add to the perks of the evening 6 different players put the puck in the net tonight. Add in last weekends game and there are 10 Lakers who have lit the lamp after three games. Even though it early in the season that is something to be excited about.

Great win indeed, especially the way they battled back on the road. They would of lost a game like this last year. Nice to see the balanced scoring and Globke continuing his hot start. Only downside was Murdock having an off game. We should see Kapalka in net tomorrow night.

WCHA teams getting roughed up again tonight, but once again, not the Lakers.

I watched the game through the Union video feed, and Murdock had no chance on at least 3 of the goals.

Was it poor play by the Lakers defensemen or just really good plays by the Union players?

Hope the Lakers can pull off the unexpected sweep tomorrow.

Re: Lake Superior State Hockey Lakers 2013-2014 (part II)

Huge win by the Lakers last night, the scoring depth thus far in this young season has been exceptional, we own 3 wins over two teams that combined for 42 last season. I predicted in the old thread that the ceiling for the Lakers this season in WCHA play was 2nd, with the floor being 6th, needless to say I thought the Lakers being picked 8th in preseason polls was a travesty, the Lakers are on the right path early on to proving a lot of people wrong!

Great Start. One more win and let's get ready for conference play.
