When did you become a jail house lawyer dopey? If some others on this board are discussing a topic you don't like then just disregard it. Otherwise you are being ridiculous with your Perry Mason imitation.

Re: Lake Superior State Hockey Lakers 2013-2014 (part II)

Bill, I noticed Ravn not dressed then I looked on the visitors bench and saw they had all three of their goalies dressed which is odd for a visiting team. Something does stink about the situation with Ravn and I have never heard a negative comment about his practice habits in his three plus years.

Two nice wins for the Lakers

Solid goal tending by Murdock

Not really worried about whether a 3rd string goalie is dressed or not - a private issue between player and coach. Of all the things about which I may criticize the coaches, this is not one.

Do you have knowledge of him being disrespected or is it all hearsay?
Yes to the first part and No to the second. Not being in the "Senior" picture (despite being present on picture day) and not dressing for home games (coaches choice) is a pretty blatant example.

Re: Lake Superior State Hockey Lakers 2013-2014 (part II)

Great way to start a new season. Dopey , I think Ravn has been screwed over by Roque. Just my opinion .

Re: Lake Superior State Hockey Lakers 2013-2014 (part II)

My guess is that few would have predicted that the two WCHA teams to remain unbeaten the longest would be our Lakers and UAA even if it only took 2 games to get there....If we can average 3 goals a game like we did this weekend I think we will finish with 3-5 games over .500 and in the top 3 of the league when considering our goaltending strengths....That is simple criteria, but I think it will hold water. 3 goals a game, if we average 2.5 per game I see up 5-6 games below .500 and finishing 5-7th....needless to say I think a lot of close games are in our future

Solid weekend for the Lakers, sweeping a solid hard-working team in RMU. Not a great top 10 team, but this is something they can build on and take confidence from. Good to see balanced scoring thoughout the weekend, and good goaltending by Murdock. As far as Ravn goes, all I can do is guess like everyone else. He's listed on the website as a junior, which would explain him not being in the senior picture. Maybe he also has to sit out so many games this season to maintain that junior status.
As far as attendance goes, as I've stated before, the school needs to promote Laker Hockey, the new league, and offer something for it's fans. Have giveaways (pucks, pictures, so on), theme nights, and opportunities for autographs and interaction with the team. Where are the cheerleaders and mascots? Were they at the games this weekend? Send the players and mascots to the local elementary schools and hand out schedules. The kids would run home and beg to go to the games. Little things like this would add a few hundred to each game. That's simply smart business!

Where are you seeing that on the website? It's his 4th season with the Lakers. The website roster identifies him as a Senior. The game program identifies him as a Senior.

Re: Lake Superior State Hockey Lakers 2013-2014 (part II)

Instead of speculating, why doesn't someone just ask Bill Crawford (someone on here has to know him well enough) to ask Roque why he didn't dress all 3 senior goalies on Parents Weekend during tonight's radio show? Personally, I can't think of many reasons why a coach would do that other than a disciplinary measure so I am just as curious as everyone on here. Roque dressed Mitch Edmondson(Sp?) most nights at home and every Parents Weekend I can remember so it does seem rather peculiar.

I don't think Roque would want to answer that question on the show, and it would be risky for Bill C to ask it. I don't know if they do some type of pre-show prep, such as going over what things they are going to talk about, but assuming they do I think Roque would tell Bill that subject is off limits. Plus, even if it was asked and answered, are you assuming Roque would give an honest answer?

It would have been nice to see some of the other freshmen forwards play this past weekend to see what they can do, but the Lakers stayed with pretty much the same lineup each night and they got 2 wins so that worked out OK for them.

Re: Lake Superior State Hockey Lakers 2013-2014 (part II)

Love the two wins this weekend.

Good defense. Timely offense. Solid special teams. Good goalkeeping.

RMU is not a soft program, and I see this as two quality wins. Two very-much-needed wins and a great way to start the season.

Now its off on a good road test. Union took a T and a W from BGSU last weekend in front of near-sell-out crowds. BGSU got into horrible penalty trouble, and while Union didn't rack up many PP goals, it appears they certainly kept BGSU on their back heels for large stretches. Since many pundits would put BGSU and LSSU roughly in the same category, it will be interesting to see if the Lakers can differentiate themselves from similarly-situated teams on the same ice against a good skating Union team.

Can we keep the penalties down?
Can we kill of penalties if not?
Can we continue to get great defense and goalkeeping?
Can we score a few timely goals?

I see this as a good solid under-the-radar tough match up . . . a good early season test.

Although I didn't care for the reffing in Saturday's game, I also don't think the Lakers did a very good job of adjusting to the way the refs were calling the game. I don't like our chances of beating Union if we take 8 penalties again; it will be tough enough even if the penalty opportunities are fairly equal. I will add to your list, "Don't fall behind by more than a goal".

Since those two are golfing buddies, and largely responsible for disposing of Hall of Fame coach Frank Anzalone, I am sure that anything that the coach doesn't want asked, wont be and he is one of the biggest cheerleaders for this coach anyway.

Not being able to even win 10 games in a season and not being able to deal with people in a professional manner were Franks undoing. If he, in year 4, had made it to the Joe instead of amassing the amazing total of nine wins, the job would have never been open to Roque.

Re: Lake Superior State Hockey Lakers 2013-2014 (part II)

I liked what the team accomplished this weekend. What they did is what they will have to do all season long. Strong goaltending and defense are keys. They must win the close games.

Re: Lake Superior State Hockey Lakers 2013-2014 (part II)

So tell me a little about your team and what we can expect from this weekend in Schenectady. Union is already decimated by injuries including goalie Colin Stevens who was taken out 6 minutes into the first game on a Bowling Green cheap shot (Williamson). He and four other Dutchmen are doubtful for the weekend. IIRC Union and LSSU played a scoreless tie at the RPI Holiday Tournament last time they visited the area a few years back.

Coming into the season we were a team that was expected to win our games with defense and goaltending, with two top notch seniors who were expected to share time in net; the team was expected to struggle to score goals and looked to have very poor offensive depth.......then in our first series one of our senior goaltenders started both games, we won 3-1 both nights and saw 6 different goal scorers lol so I would say it's hard to really forecast what kind of series we are going to give you, or who will even be between the pipes for us.

Congrats on a sweep, I enjoyed the games on YES FM . They attempted to give some balance to
the broadcast-appreciated here Cant explain the inbalance in penalties or RMUs inability to
take advantage, kudos to the PK.
Iyzk RMUs goalie broke his ankle, dont know how.

Next game Niagara , tough game.
