Lake State Lakers (2025-26)

So after 4 games and 1 exhibition game. What should our (realistic) expectations be of this team? Compete for the CCHA. Or at least make it to the conference semifinals?
Thoughts?

I think it's a little early to get a decent feel for that. Let's see how they are doing after they've played a few conference games, home and away.

After going 0-4 in the Soo to start the year, I have lowered my expectations. I'm starting to wonder if LSSU has the right guy as coach.

I got to see the Lakers in person for the first time this season against BG. My expectations aren't real high although it's still early and things could change for the better. They are undersized at forward aside from Connor Milburn. They have several small guys up front that have the skill to put the puck in the net but they need to complement that with more size. BG was able to crash the net much better than the Lakers.

One of my pet peeves is the trouble they have getting the puck out of their own end. This has been a problem area for a number of years in my opinion. They just don't get back quick enough and move the puck when their opponent dumps the puck in and puts on the forecheck.

They did get a commit from a good sized forward from Czechia today, so that will help their size problem up front if they are able to actually bring him in within a couple of years.
