It's Derby Day!!!!

Re: It's Derby Day!!!!

I've picked 5 out of the last 7 Derby winners. I missed Giacomo in 2005 and Mine That Bird in 2009. :)

Re: It's Derby Day!!!!

The Louisville Courier-Journal had electrical problems with its press and couldn't complete its run.

Good thing there was nothing going on there last night...oh wait.

Re: It's Derby Day!!!!

Didn't his 100k bet push the odds down to 8:1? I could have sworn I heard them mention that during the race.

Well, he made the bet ahead of time, where I think there was enough time left to sway the odds back up.

Re: It's Derby Day!!!!

Annd, your horse didn't finish last. You should be excited about that, too. LOL.

Right! I think my horse finished 8th. That's like the top 40%. Huge improvement from my pick last year.

I guess I'm as good at betting on horse races as my mother. Her Facebook status states that every horse she bet on at Pimlico Saturday came in last or 2nd to last.

Now to figure out if I want to throw a Preakness party and to start planning.

Have any other horse racing fans seen the show "Jockeys"? I watched a few episodes Saturday. It was interesting.

Re: It's Derby Day!!!!

We had a great day at the Derby. One of our party actually picked Super Saver to win, but she only put down $20. ;) I put down $20 bets on Dublin and Stately Victor ... f*ing nags. :D It was rainy, muddy and crowded, but definitely a great time, as always. Definitely more fun than the Final Four or Super Bowl.
