Iran So Far Away: 2026

Sobering.

Iran is able to hit the very regional base from which our attacks originate. Our attacks are no longer one-way, as they were in all prior Middle Eastern campaigns. That is a critical strategic change. This despite us sacrificing our population's health, welfare and future to feed our military for the last 75 years.

The Plan was: give all our wealth to Raytheon and Lockheed and in exchange they provide lethal military force to impose our commercial empire, so Americans writ large can continue to support the relative quality of life we got addicted to after WW2. The result: the quality of life of the median American was hollowed out, and now it looks like American military force can't protect itself against asymmetric force. The Iranians erode the fuel, logistics, and radar, and incrementally render the American forward deployment less efficient and less effective.

We could actually lose. Not fail to win. Lose.

I am starting to see stuff on mil-blogger sites like "Israel will fight this war down to the last American soldier."

If only there had been some way to avoid this.

Al Jazeera reports Iran says it has downed a US fighter jet over a central part of the country. US officials have not yet commented.

Iran’s semiofficial Tasnim News Agency has since published images it said show the wreckage. The outlet also reported that the US is trying to “free the downed fighter pilot”, whose condition remained unclear.

“The Americans have been conducting a search operation using Black Hawk helicopters and a Hercules 130 since an hour ago to free their fighter pilot who was shot down by the Iranian armed forces; however, their efforts have failed,” Tasnim said.

Al Jazeera has not been able to independently verify the claims.

Note however this could be a psyop. It is not clear whether the wreckage is an F-35 and even were it there is no definitive proof yet it was shot down. CENTCOM denies it but of course that is no proof of anything either.

That seems to be the strategy going forward.

Once something gets out in the public and starts getting negative press and attention, Donnie wipes his hands of it. It's why guys like Miller are still secure in the inner circle. They do the bidding without attracting attention.
 
A new Iranaian Lego Movie episode dropped and its a certified banger. Leans heavily into potential paranoia with Hegseth.

F15 just shot down, one pilot rescued another MIA, it went down over Iran and they(iran) put up rewards for anyone finds them. Hostage?

If I were Iran, I would return the pilot with gentleness and ceremony, to contrast with Israeli and American war crimes and brutality.

Which would really burn for the families of the 50k protesters they murdered on their own streets 2 months ago.

The Iranian regime is just as much a bunch of gangsters as the Dumpies. They have as lethally vicious an iron age Manichean theology as the Thumpers. They are the Muzzie mirror image of the American Right.

The ideal result of this war is the Iranian Regime, the Israeli Right, and the American Right all die screaming so the humans can get on with their business.
 
So when CENTCOM said "all aircraft are accounted for" they forgot to include "including the one we know just got shot down."

Per NBC, which evidently still has a news division behind the washer-dryer or something, the story has been partially collaborated by American official. However, they are claiming an F-15E, not an F-35.

I flew home from Lake Placid with a former USAF pilot and he 'splained the difference in the F-15 lots to me. Very interesting. This is an F-15E Strike Eagle, the same craft three of which were shot down by the Kuwaitis in the friendly fire incident a month ago.
