Odd, i was able to setup my google account to sync directly with my ipod. Didn't need a Microsoft Exchange account at all. But I only use Google for contacts.

I was too initially, but then I found that Google will "push" everything to the ipod better through microsoft exchange. See the Google.com link I posted.

What software to people use / recommend for converting DVDs to files which can be transferred to an iTouch? Any that are free or will I need to shell out $20-$30?

Can't you just import them into iTunes like you would with a CD? (of course, if you could, you wouldn't be asking, now would you. )

I thought I could too.

Looks like I will need some software. I using a demo version Cucusoft now, the reviews are very good. I tried Handbrake but I need something more intuitive. Read: I'm a moron.

Sandisk has a media converter available on its Sansa website - Sansa is its MP3 player brand name. You should be able to download all of the software for it for free, but I couldn't tell you if the converted format would work for an iPod or not.

Another iPod Touch question, is it possible to set up a streaming audio link that plays like my uploaded music or playlists so I can use other apps, or am I stuck streaming the audio through safari?

(Non-Jailbroken iPod, and I'm not looking to jailbreak it to multi-task)

There are a few streaming music apps that will let you continue to listen even when in other apps.
