Illegal Immigration IV: Amnesty For Some, Miniature American Flags For Others

Re: Illegal Immigration IV: Amnesty For Some, Miniature American Flags For Others

And of course the Roma issue in Europe has a long and complex history that does not parallel the issue of illegals coming across the U.S.-Mexico border. I do think France could have handled the situation a lot better. Really, if anything, it highlights just how modest the U.S.' actions have been regarding a much more serious problem here.

Well, here's how they're dealing with a much more serious problem. Although being sentenced to a class in "what it means to be French" has limitless humor potential.

And now its time for Deep Thoughts, by Rover:

"If someone screams every day about illegals in his state, but there's nobody there to listen, does he really make a sound?" :D :D :D
If Rover makes a post but everyone else on the board has him on ignore, is he still wrong???? :D :D :D

If a tree falls in the forest and lands on a hippie does anybody care?

Rover, even if one doesn't think this doesn't reach your top list for problems nationally I have to imagine it's very, very real for those along the border and I don't think it makes sense to denigrate those that are directly impacted, even if tongue in cheek.

Its not that I don't sympathize with Bob's plight. People need to follow the law, and that applies to those who didn't go through the proper process to gain citizenship and earn the right to reside and work here.

The problem is when he's posted the same thing for the 5,000,000,000,000th time, it kinda loses its meaning. :D After awhile it descends into crackpot status. Most of us have jobs, or had them at one point. Many of us have had to do presentations. If you have, you realize that you can have the greatest idea in the world, but if you can't get it across to people effectively, you're doomed. Same standard applies here. Illegal immigration is a problem. However, its not out of line to start questioning motivations behind laws like the AZ one, which does nothing to stop the #1 reason why illegals are here, which is to get work. Crack down on employers hiring illegals and the problem is reduced exponentially. Have the cops questioning everybody with a tan = a waste of resources.

You apparently weren't paying attention when Arizona passed a law requiring all employers to check employees for legal status, eh?

You're interesting. You profess that you don't care about our borders or Arizona, yet you constantly post in this thread. I'd hope that someday you say something cogent about the issue. One can dream.

I know. It's just interesting to observe the inconsistent behavior of a troll such as him. Who knows, maybe he's always secretly desired to move to Yuma, Arizona?

Bob, the trick is enforcement not passing a law. Hiring illegals isn't lawful. Passing a law requiring checks is fluff. Logically they should already be doing that. Whether there's penalties for hiring illegals is the question. Its nothing gestures like this that keeps people like you voting GOP, and then you wonder why the situation never improves.

Regading posting on this thread, its like checking out the Indy Colts message board after the Super Bowl last year. Nothing but pure laughs as their heads exploded. Same thing here. :D ;) :D

Learn about the law before concluding what it does or doesn't. Or come up with some new material. You can do better.

Nice non answer Bob. I realize this is the best you can do. :p

Border Updates for Rover:

Congresssional Democrats ask for investigation of how Border Patrol agents are deployed in Arizona. This could get interesting.

http://www.hstoday.us/content/view/14754/128/

and the Cochise County (Rover, it's on the Mexican border in SE Arizona) sheriff calls out the New York Times. Good stuff.

Another sign Mexico is approaching failed nation status. The biggest paper in Ciudad Juarez waves the white flag to the drug cartels, asking them the cartels to tell them what the paper can do to avoid further reporters being killed. Particulary telling was this line "The El Diario editorial Sunday said it addressed its plea to the drug gangs because they are now the city's de facto authorities." The drug cartels now effectively control one of the largest northern Mexican cities, right on the U.S. border.

I'll tip my hat to El Diario for coming up with a fairly provacative, in your face way of saying to the Mexican government, "what are you going to do about this crap we've got going on here?"

But wouldn't you like to see the cartels actually respond?

Maybe send a letter. Sign it "the drug cartels".

"We'd like to see a better weather page. Just saying it's going to be 'hot' again today is getting old.

And maybe a 'talk of the town' page. We want to know if Srta Juarez had afternoon tequila with Srta Sanchez, and whether the Hernandez' threw an open house for the return of their son-in-law who was deported from the U.S.

And more stories about bunnies. That is all."

Yah, that would be funny. Though you generally don't see Mexican drug cartels exhibiting much of a sense of humor, so it's probably a long shot.

Actually El Diario is just part of a bigger trend in Mexico, with many of the major newspapers now avoiding any discussion of the drug wars. They are just a very high profile example of the trend.

Re: Illegal Immigration IV: Amnesty For Some, Miniature American Flags For Others

The government continues to funnel tons of resources into border policing.

The govt is staging huge hiring conventions in cities across the country searching to staff all the positions...due to geography, Minneapolis is probably the last city that would be looking to hire and they're going after hiring people here in a big way.
