IIHF Women's Worlds, Utica 2024

The giant asterisk is that NHL Network should only do the intermission reports if they are going to put any effort AT ALL into it. Zoe is exactly right in that the segments have been abysmal. I could have slide tackled two random people walking into LaBahn this year, jammed a headset on them, shoved them in front of a camera, and no matter who I fouled in the name of television they would have put on a better segment. It is not hyperbole in the slightest to say I got more content out of watching the intermission breaks on both Swedish and Czech TV and I do not fluently speak either of those languages.

I know, I know, you guys are right. It’s been rough. I’m just channeling “get better, don’t get cancelled” energy.

sad I missed the kendall Coyne segment earlier! Hopefully it ends up online or something.

USA puts up 10 vs Japan, the final goal a great sequence among Coyne Schofield, Knight, and Carpenter.
Saturday schedule:
Switzerland vs Germany, 11AM ET (5th-place game)
USA vs Finland, 3PM (semifinal), NHL Network / TSN
Canada vs Czechia, 7PM (semifinal), NHL Network / TSN

My favorite chant of all time.

lol. I did have a compassionate sad face for Japan but the message board didn't show it.
The message board is ruthless. Laughing emoji.

Looking forward to semis.
Going to be foolish and assume Canada US end up in the finals. Neither team really has a roster you’d send to the Olympics. One too old, one too young. Both have settled in on their head coaches though.

I wish USAH would punt the NHL Network in its entirety and move everything to ESPN+ (TSN).

I read recently that USA Hockey has a financial stake in the NHL Network. If true, no punting will be done. However, that doesn’t mean USA Hockey can’t insist on better production. The game and studio coverage for the PWHL is super. We know it can be done.

Laila Edwards scores on the power play, making it 2-0! The origin of the power play was a rush in which Coyne Schofield was sent into the boards, and Coyne Schofield has just come back out onto the bench after going off and receiving medical attention.

Speaking of USA hockey having financial stakes in Video productions, at the recent girls national championships in Florida, USA Hockey had workers patrolling the rinks, making sure no parents were taking videos of the games or live-streaming the games. They were obviously protecting their USA hockey networks that were charging $30 per month to watch the games, and $60 per month to watch the games and download the games.

Just a further money-grab by USA Hockey and as a result increasing the cost of youth hockey. If they really wanted to “grow the game” they would allow as much video as possible to be taped, broadcasted, live-streamed etc.

i’m not sure what the USA Hockey waiver says about name, image, and likeness, but it seems completely against current thinking that the youth players providing the entertainment content for USA Hockey video are not being compensated for their performances.

Does anyone know if they will be selling SRO tickets today for USA-Canada ? I don't have tix and want to go.

Desbiens and Ambrose pick up assists on Danielle Serdachny's game-winning goal, a bit over 5 mins into the OT. It came with just one second remaining in the power play for too many players.

Congrats to Canada - a well-fought game! It was a wonderful tournament.

Does anyone know why there were no programs sold for the tourney ? I didn't know most of the players during the game. It was like watching blind, no info on the players, no keepsake for later years.
