If you're trying to find out 2012 NCAA Tourny info - Forget about it!

Re: If you're trying to find out 2012 NCAA Tourny info - Forget about it!

And it's not just championship info. ANYTHING relating to the NCAA is now only for NCAA members. I was looking for a press release and got the "This page is for NCAA members".

That's logical. Make your press releases secret documents, too. Excuse me, what are press releases for if they are secret?

Exactly, and as noted, they are last years and even then, the "2011 Division III Men's Ice Hockey" is set to the "404 error".

But the comparable link for the Women's tournament is still alive

That was my point about the Men's hockey link, the "404 error" (page not found) typically results when a link is sent to page that no longer exists or the URL contains a syntax error. In this case, they are intentionally creating the 404 error, perhaps to note that a page should exist, but it doesn't - even registered users will get the 404 error.

Re: If you're trying to find out 2012 NCAA Tourny info - Forget about it!

I'm finding the language in parts to be questionable. most notably....

"Pool C will be reserved for institutions from AQ Conferences that are not their conference champions, and independent institutions."

It's interesting because the official team listing still has the ECAC West listed under pool B, but without a Pool B bid in place because of the MASCAC, the West has to look to those Pool C bids. and if you look at the above quote, verbatim, the West is neither AQ nor Independent and thus, not eligible according to that statement.

Not saying it was their intention but lord, does that sound sketchy.

I'm pretty sure it's read like that for a while, and at one point it was implemented in exactly the way you interpreted it. But the interpretation changed at some point, and sinc then the ECAC-W has at times gotten 3 teams in (notably 2009: Elmira, Neumann, and Hobart), so they clearly are eligible for Pool C.
