For people looking for hotel rooms, my wife is a travel agent and has a block of rooms booked at the Hilton Garden Inn (1 block from Ford Field) for $150, plus tax. It includes breakfast for up to 4 per room. She recently priced other hotels in the area. Courtyard $169, Marriott $199, MGM $249 1st 2 nights, $299.00 2nd 2 nights, Greektown $299, Detroit Regency $179.99. E-mail her if interested: tamara@classictravelusa.com

Re: Hotels for Frozen

This hotel has horrible reviews - although there are only 2, I am inclined to stay away from places that have dead rats on the patio and cars stolen from the parking lot; although I did stay at the Lowell, Mass Courtyard and there was a double homicide in the parking lot right after I left.....

It's Detroit. There will be gunshots heard no matter where you stay.;)

Re: Hotels for Frozen

I got the Westin Book Cadillac in downtown Detroit for $117/nite thru Hotwire.

Wow! Nice find! That is far and away the nicest hotel in Detroit. Actually it's probably top 10 in the entire state. That is a ridiculous price. The Hilton Garden that this yahoo was spamming about is nothing more than a motel 6 with a Hilton faceplate.

Also, since you're staying there, make sure to check out ROAST! on the ground floor. It's my favorite restaurant downtown and the owner is celebrity chef Michael Symon. My wife and I ate there last summer and he actually came out from the back and talked to us for a bit. My wife is a big fan of his and he signed our menu.

Try the Beast of the Day...:-)

Actually, it's not that hard to get a good rate at the Book- we have it at $108. If you qualify for government rate.... And that actually goes for ALL the downtown hotels- Ren Cen, Fort Shelby, etc.

As for Roast- we've eaten there twice, first was cool, the second was very dissappointing. We hear that they are reviewing how they do things, and we do plan on eating there while staying at the Book for the FF. But be aware that it's supposed to be very high end food, and reviews have been pretty mixed. We have high expectations that it will be good.

Also, the Spa 19 24 Grill is quite good, too- also on the ground floor of the Book.

Re: Hotels for Frozen

First of all, thank you to my husband for posting this information for me. I just wanted to clarify that I am a travel agent at Classic Travel in Michigan (website www.classictravelusa.com if interested). I have been to over 15 Frozen Fours and many other hockey trips. I have helped organize the trips for "our gang" for many of these events. Since this is local for us, many have decided to not overnight and I have extra rooms available. I thought I would offer them to anyone that may still be looking. I inspected the Hilton Garden Inn last year before deciding it was a good hotel in a great location for this event. They have a 3-diamond rating from AAA and the property is only 6 years old. Though I am sure many people have confirmed some great deals in Detroit, I thought this was worth putting out to people as the current available rooms are at higher prices. I am sure everyone will have a great time as Frozen Fours are always a lot of fun! If anyone is interested or has any questions, please feel free to email me at tamara@classictravelusa.com.
Thank you and I will see you in Detroit!
