Hockey East-WCHA Challenge

Re: Hockey East-WCHA Challenge

This is a great idea and I think it would do wonders as far as the exposure for college hockey.

Re: Hockey East-WCHA Challenge

UMD has played and beaten UML 5 times in the last 4 years. Fine by me. Would be fun to see another Hockey East team come to Duluth.

Providence comes to the DECC next October, so your wish is granted Biddy.

And tUMDs' loss to Vermont last year in the Catamount Cup probably kept them out of the NCAAs....that and UAH:mad:

Re: Hockey East-WCHA Challenge

UMass opens up its 2010-11 season in Minnesota against the Gophers in a two-game series. This should be a good one as both teams had key guys leaving early (UMass - Marcou, Wellman. Minnesota - Schroeder). Two teams who had hopes for NCAA births at one point or another this season trying to get at it again. The Minutemen will also travel to Madison for the Badger Classic at Christmas, but no word on who their opponents will be.

I believe UMASS will be playing UW twice, since this tournament doesn't exist anymore.

Re: Hockey East-WCHA Challenge

So what are the known WCHA v. HE games schedule for next year ?

DU @ UVM for 2
DU v. BC for 2
UMA @ UW for 2
UVM @ Minnesota ( I am assuming UMD but ??)

BTW this is really a great idea. First weekend opens with 5 at home 5 on the road and alternate years which 5 are at home and on the road giving preference to the higher seed if there is a conflict.

Mankato is coming to Lowell for a pair.

Re: Hockey East-WCHA Challenge

Wisco went to BC and UNH to start the 2009 season. BC raised their 2008 championship banner before the UW-BC game, then proceeded to beat UW something like 5-3 I think.

I think Wisco opens at BC next year, so you may get to see another Banner Raising Ceremony. :)

Re: Hockey East-WCHA Challenge

So
DU @ UVM for 2
DU v. BC for 2
UMA @ UW for 2
UVM @ Minnesota ( I am assuming UMD but ??)
UMM @ UML for 2

North Dakota @ Maine for 2

for the record, the last four years, the conferences have played 59 games with a 27-27-5 record

PC @ tUMD in mid October. First time they have faced off in quite some time. I assume tUMD goes to PC next year. tUMD also goes to Clarkson in Nov 2010 after Clarkson visited Duluth in 2009.
