Hockey East Summer Predictions

Re: Hockey East Summer Predictions

He also has UNH winning the HE tournament and we know that's never going to happen.

I will agree it is unlikely but UNH has won 2, so it has happened. Remember these are H.E. predictions.

Re: Hockey East Summer Predictions

OK, I have to ask the question: what makes you think LeBlanc wins ROY?

Saw him play at Winthrop and he was an absolute beast. Just a guess obviously, but I figure he'll get more of a chance to be a top-6 forward right away then some of the other drafted in-coming freshmen.

Zero chance of Leblanc winning ROTY. Winthrop plays Lynn, Swampscott, Marblehead, etc...no chance. He might not be a top six forward freshman year at Merrimack. Ottawa drafted him to be a project, someone with raw talent who might develop.

Re: Hockey East Summer Predictions

You have UML winning the HE regular season but missing the NCAA's. My guess is that the team that wins the regular season title will have a strong enough Pairwise Ranking to be included in the NCAA's.

I stopped reading when he posed the idea that UNH would win a tournament trophy.

UNH has won the Hockey East tournament as many times as BU has in the past 15 years. (That'd be 2 times each) They've also been in the Hockey East Championship game more than BU in the past 15 years (5-4).

this is such a head scratcher that I had to go back and look. Who would have thought that?

That is interesting stuff right there.... so is UNH much better then we all give them credit for or is BU that much worse....

And UNH has been to more NC games. Of course 1-0 is better than 0 for whatever. :)

I think it is a combo of both. BU has been worse. But UNH is only known for the rip your heart out end of seasons. But to dramatically collapse you have to actually have some hope of being really good. BU has pre-season flash and limited results, UNH is steady all year and can't finish.

There is the potential that with the BU flash they are underachieving.

The converse is UNH overachieves and the collapse is not a choke, but just a return to (a talent) reality.
