Summer is the worst time for sports when your baseball team is bad, as mine is (Mets). I'm ready for hockey so I thought I'd start a 2013-2014 Hockey East prediction thread. Give your regular season champion, tournament champion, 4 teams that make the NCAA tournament, player of the year, rookie of the year, first team goalie, coach of the year, and the team that makes the biggest positive jump from the coaches poll to end of the year standings. You get 5 points for every correct answer except you get 2 points for each NCAA tournament team you get right.

Regular Season Champ: Providence
Tournament Champ: Boston College
NCAA tournament teams: PC, BC, UNH, BU
Player of the Year: Kevin Roy (NU)
Rookie of the Year: Chris LeBlanc (MC)
Best Goalie: Jon Gillies (PC)
Coach of the Year: Nate Leaman (PC)
Surprise team/Biggest Jump: Vermont

NCAA tournament teams: UML, PC, BC, UNH, ND, Borderline teams: ME, BU
Player of the Year: Johnny Gaudreau
Rookie of the Year: No idea
Best Goalie: Connor Hellebuyck (UML)
Coach of the Year: Nate Leaman (PC)
Surprise team/Biggest Jump: Maine

You have UML winning the HE regular season but missing the NCAA's. My guess is that the team that wins the regular season title will have a strong enough Pairwise Ranking to be included in the NCAA's.

I never understand the people that get so upset at early offseason/preseason predictions/rankings. If you don't like it, don't read it. Plenty of people are fans and like to think sports during offseason. I always love reading SI's Stewart Mandel's rankings for the following season a day or two after BCS Champ Game. Sure. Things happen, but it's fun to speculate.

I predict that no matter what happens, for the 257th consecutive time, no BC players will be chosen for the Milk Carton team.

You never know til the games are played but those are my predictions.

He also has UNH winning the HE tournament and we know that's never going to happen.

Yeah, so you have Vermont as surprise team of the year. We know thats never going to happen.
