Hockey City Classic: Minnesota vs Wisconsin 2/17/13

Re: Hockey City Classic: Minnesota vs Wisconsin 2/17/13

Did they change the rule recently? That used to be a goal.

Re: Hockey City Classic: Minnesota vs Wisconsin 2/17/13

I guess if the shot with a high stick was a "scoring opportunity" the whistle would get blown immediately, plus the intent to whistle rule in case it hadn't actually been blown.

Good game for the gophs to learn and play a different style.
****...Condon still looks fast on this ice.

I liked how Eaves talked to the ref asking him if it shouldn't count given it went off Alt's skate. Like a WCHA ref would know the rules. HA!

Re: Hockey City Classic: Minnesota vs Wisconsin 2/17/13

looks like a high stick by Wis and whistle blew....no goal

Official said nothing about the whistle blowing in their explanation. I'm not 100% familiar with the rules, but I think Minnesota would have to show some control over the puck before the high-stick would get negated. That never happened, so good call.

The play was officially ruled dead when the high stick was called (a whistle).
