Hockey City Classic: Minnesota vs Wisconsin 2/17/13

Re: Hockey City Classic: Minnesota vs Wisconsin 2/17/13

Gimmicky games deserve gimmicky teams - not teams that can determine a conference championship

What th fawk PP is this... This reminds me off the Flyers game a few years go where they held the puck for like 5 mins

Re: Hockey City Classic: Minnesota vs Wisconsin 2/17/13

This ice sure has some funky bounces.

It appears to be causing the puck to bounce behind Wilcox. 3-0 Wisco!

What a garbage game. Garbage ice. Garbage bounces. The better team is not winning.

If Norwood ever suggests an outdoor conference game... someone please shoot him in the head.

This. The puck is bouncing like a basketball on this ice.

Gophers fall down on the ice.

Now Schmidt falls on some crappy ice.

Badgers skating on different ice in parallel universe.

Brent..these are normal outdoor ice hockey conditions which typically get worse as the period goes on. You learn to adjust if you grow up playing on this stuff.

And I'm saying that this isn't a hockey game. It's "flip the puck up in the air, hope it bounces our way." Yeah, great skill there.

The Badgers are generating open looks to throw it on net and get a bounce--they are also not allowing the Gophers to do the same.

Just because these are the conditions the game was invented with, does not mean that the evolution of indoor hockey has been a bad thing. To have this game count as a conference game is simply pure stupidity. But, what else would you expect from Wisconsin.... If this was a Non-Con or exhibition game it would be a different story.

That's exactly right. And the Badgers are playing decent D not letting MN inside much either.

Hey, I like me a good outdoor game with GOOD ice. I can appreciate a trap team (hell, I'm a Devils fan), but this game is not hockey. This is a series of a bouncing puck, left up to a lot of luck of the bounce.

And both teams knew that going in. Could be 5-0 with post & crossbar hits.

This is what I was talking about when I mentioned the Pond Hockey Championships. It's terrible hockey where skill is trumped (by a lot) by simple will & determination.

Even at the Lambeau game (2006) when we had a good amount of skill on our roster, the game looked a lot like this.
