HOBART STATESMEN HOCKEY 2023-2023- REIGNING Dlll DIVISION CHAMPIONS

It is looking that way....some great New York State College hockey , we'll probably bring a NEHC friend with us. The Cooler awaits.

Not news to media in these parts, but, what the hell is going on now and when is it going to happen??? Is even D3 going to become a bunch of gigolo players jumping from school to school and gigolo programs jumping from conference to conference (though the latter is not happening that much in hockey quite yet!!!)???

Certainly hope not as that is exactly why post pandemic I started watching more webcasts of this level of hockey and putting in significantly less in person appearances at higher levels (at least the visiting team) just four miles from my house!!! Just plain and simple losing interest in year after year episodes of gigolos out and gigolos in. Just when you get to the point where you can match numbers to the names of all the gigolos in, some of them turn in to gigolos out AGAIN???

Tony/troy, I think Hobart hockey has been trying to find a more permanent home, hopefully the SUNYAC will be a good combination of travel/quality opponents . The players have stayed with Coach Taylor so no vagabonds from what I've heard, although I'm sure a few of them would be happy to be employed as gigolos for the right mature ladies....a type of NIL $$$ with certain physical performance demands.

What season is this going to start. Do not believe it is 24-25.

Not like there are a whole lot of D3 baseball fans out there, but, check X out for some incredibly good and heads up Hobart game ending defense combined with some unbelievably stupid SLU baserunning. Yes, those were both SLU UTTERLY MEANINGLESS BASERUNNERS as neither were the potential tying run. Yet, they (and maybe their base coaches too) still somehow managed to get themselves in this pickle.

With that play the "expansion" Statesmen are probably well on their way to clinching a berth in the playoff crossover round out of the Liberty Leagues' far tougher and deeper Western Division. Not too shabby for just year two of the programs' rebirth. Decades ago and before baseball was dropped, the program was quite good. As best as I recall, at least one of their seasons ended with two losses in the NCAA Regional here in Colonie at the long departed Heritage Park. Not exactly the worst place to lose two.

Tony/troy,
Hobart baseball is back and just swept SLU, and that triple play was rather embarrassing for the Saints. Hobart has a pitching coach as our manager and did a great job recruiting Jr.College and other transfers building on the last year and some first years. I don't know where it will take them this year, but they are a pretty enthusiastic group. The old baseball alumni are finally crawling back to support the program after being very bitter about the budget cuts that ended the program. It also attracted some 2 sport athletes which is a great benefit to D3 sports.
Back to Hockey, I think the admission to the SUNYAC fits well after a nice run in the NEHC ending this year. The team is all about winning the NEHC in 2024-5 and giving it a run for a three peat , but they know how tough it is to win the Championship, so I don't think you'll hear too much crowing out of them as they will continue to "respect all and fear none".
