Don Meyer, one of the winningest coaches in college basketball who came back from a near-fatal car accident and liver cancer before closing out his career, died Sunday in South Dakota. He was 69.
During a formula one career which stretched from 1955 until 1970 Brabham competed in 126 grands prix, winning on 14 occasions. From 1955 to 61 he drove for the Cooper team before moving off and setting up as a constructor in his own right.
Brabham is recalled by all who worked with him as a man who never wasted words. He was shrewd to the point of sheer cunning, a great mechanical improvisor in the days when racing drivers still got their hands dirty helping on the mechanical front, and an all-rounder prepared to turn his hand to any chore if the necessity arose.
OFormer Formula 1 driver Sir jack Brabham, 88. Three time World Champion and one of my boyhood idols.

One of the best. Met him a few years back at Watkins Glen when he was the Grand Marshall for the Vintage Festival.
Godspeed, Sir Jack.
Sir Jack won the first Canadian Grand Prix at Mosport in 1967.
