Re: Headline News Thread
The "headlines" don't always convey the actual "news."
I saw a headline the other day that said "2020 Census Will Not Count LGBTQ."
I thought, "that can't possibly be right. I worked on the 2000 census, and you are supposed to count
everyone. We went to Walmart parking lot to count people who live out of their RVs, we went to the homeless camp to count them..."
Then in the actual article it says [paraphrase] "of course LGBTQ people will be 'counted,' it is just that they won't be reported in a separate category all their own."
I guess that headline is a good example of "clickbait," eh?

Say something that appears outrageous, then walk it back. I read somewhere else that something like 40% of people link to news stories on social media that they have not even read, based purely on the headline alone.
Like the "old days" in the supermarket checkout line,
National Inquirer breathless headline: "Did star of day do something outrageous?" then you turn to the article and it says, "of course not...wherever did you get
that idea?"
