Re: Headline News Thread

This morning, CNN took a break from its Ebolathon to mention that Hurricane Ana is getting close to Hawaii, only the loop footage they were playing clearly showed a storm bearing down on...Bermuda. Srsly, CNN?

Re: Headline News Thread

Yeah I was at the bar tonight for happy hour and thought I was going nuts. I kept thinking to myself, "I thought this was in Hawaii... Huh guess I need to pay more attention to the news."

Glad to find out I wasn't going insane. Man, CNN is steaming pile of sheet.

It's the new Comedy Central. Or a tv version of the Onion.

Hope it's not too late to make the number! :D

Sleeping with more than 20 women protects men against prostate cancer, a study has suggested.

Men who had slept with more than 20 women lowered their risk of developing cancer by almost one third, and were 19 per cent less likely to develop the most aggressive form.

Wreckage from Amelia Earhart’s plane believed to be identified.

Researchers probing the 1937 disappearance of famed American aviator Amelia Earhart’s plane said on Wednesday they now believe a slab of aluminum found decades ago on an uninhabited island in the Pacific Ocean came from her aircraft.

[However,] The announcement that new analysis had determined the piece was from her lost craft was met with skepticism from some aviation experts, without independent review or a definitive marking such as a serial number.

Typical sensationalist headline followed by a walkback in the actual article.

This sucks. Virgin Galactic SS2 crashes on test flight.

Virgin Galactic's SpaceShipTwo rocket plane exploded and crashed during a powered test flight on Friday, resulting in one fatality and one injury, authorities said.

The explosion occurred after the plane was released from its WhiteKnightTwo carrier airplane and fired up its rocket engine in flight for the first time in more than nine months.

"During the test, the vehicle suffered a serious anomaly resulting in the loss of the vehicle," Virgin Galactic said in a statement. "The WhiteKnightTwo carrier aircraft landed safely. "Our first concern is the status of the pilots."

Jesse Borne, an officer at the California Highway Patrol, told NBC News that there was one fatality and one major injury.
