So my wife is in Thailand (presently in Hua Hin) and is fine. Her parents (Bangkok), sister (outer Bangkok) and brother 2 (Rayong) were all unaffected.

Brother 1 who is a military diplomat stationed in Yangon but was traveling at the time was only impacted by his flight scheduled back to Yangon being cancelled. Luckily all of them are unscathed.

I was so out of the loop (Gophers hockey) I had no idea until my wife later messaged me. :oops:

National DBE program for construction and engineering determined that use of race and sex based presumptions to be unconstitutional and the USDOT and FHWA may no longer require DBE percentage goals in any contract that uses federal funds.

I know this is your schtick, but it simply does not apply in this case. Aviation in general, and the 787 in particular, is ridiculously safe and it's because we (collectively) DID spend the money - $32B for Dreamliner development. 14 years with zero crashes.

Full disclosure: I worked on the 787 fuel tank inerting system, which is very much a part of its flight safety approach, so while that might make me a little biased, it definitely makes me a lot knowledgeable.

(now I need to go take a shower since I said something that might be construed as positive about Boeing)
